Local senior raises voice in favor of new sports complex Cindy Aguirre-Herrera
(Seguin) – Ryan Rangel, a Lady Mats Softball Team member, has her eye on one final pitch this senior year. That pitch, however, is to the community and one that she hopes will leave the high school a little better than she found it. Rangel has been racking up her stats this season by beating one school record after another. Despite all that success on the field, she believes her most crucial at-bat this year is getting the community to say “yes” on May 6 to a new baseball and softball complex at Seguin High School. In November 2022, voters turned down this same proposed $7.5 million complex. However, this May, the district again asks voters to approve the complex –– this time with no tax increase. registered voter since the last time the proposal came up. “I think I was just really upset because I thought we were going to get the bond the first time around and it was really upsetting not to get the bond the first time around and so I knew at the time, I couldn’t vote because I wasn’t 18 yet. So as soon as I turned 18, I registered to be a voter. So, I was ready to vote for the next bond and they mentioned that we were going to be able to do it again. I’m really just trying to do my best to get it out there and also do my part to vote. Me and the other senior Ashlie Aguilar, we are both going to go vote together,” said Rangel.
