Movies in the Park hits the big screen this Friday (Seguin) – This Friday night marks the return of Movies in the Park. The city of Seguin Parks and Recreation Department is launching the start of its 2025 movie schedule at local parks. Jennifer Sourdellia, Seguin’s public information officer, says the city will be kicking things off this Friday with a family favorite at Max Starcke Park. “We are so excited to be kicking off Movies in the Park for our Spring season this Friday. It’s going to be a free movie

under the stars held at the large pavilion over at Starcke Park. The movie gets underway at 7:45 but we do encourage people to get there before the show because we are going to have free face painting and while I can’t say the name of the movie, I will tell you that there is going to be some special guests there before the movie and they are Minions,” said Sourdellia. Sourdellia says the night out is simple and fun for all ages. Movie, pg. 3

In a pickle of what to do this Spring Break weekend? If the answer is yes, then you might want to let those salivary glands point you in the right direction. That direction would be to neighboring New Braunfels for the inaugural In a Pickle Festival. The festival is set for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday at the Comal County Fairgrounds. The much-anticipated festival dubbed “all things pickled” is anticipated to be a sold-out crowd of about 30,000 people. The unique and flavorful event will host a wide range of fun from foods such as pickle cotton candy and ice cream to several pickle-themed contests. Although this will be the first time the pickle festival will be held in New Braunfels, it’s not the first time that the event has been organized and hosted by Founder Krystal Wertman. “We are actually in the

Kingwood, Texas area and we created this festival seven years ago to bring liveliness back to Kingwood after Hurricane Harvey. I’m actually a vendor in the Kingwood area selling jelly and pickles and of course, it flooded all of Kingwood so all the businesses shut down -- the homes and this was just a way to kind of revitalize the community and we also help bring awareness to the non-profit, Hunter Syndrome which we have two young males affected by it here in our area which is unheard of – it is so rare so that’s how we got started,” said Wertman.
