Navarro girls rally past Cuero, secure outright 30-4A title, top playoff seed (Cuero) - Navarro girls basketball claimed its first outright district championship since 2015 and the top playoff seed in District 30-4A Friday night with a 41-31 road win over Cuero. The Panthers finish the 30-4A sched-
ule with a final district record of 11-1. The win moved Navarro's overall record to 24-10. Cuero led 14-5 at the end of the first quarter, but Navarro used a 21-5 run in the second period to build a 26-19
halftime lead. The Panthers clamped down defensively to control the second half 15-12 and notch the final 10point margin.

(Beijing) -- The death toll from the coronavirus in China is passing 600. Health officials in China say over 630 people have died in the country, while another 31-thousand have been infected. Most of the infections are centralized in the Hubei area. In the U.S., only a dozen people have been infected with the disease. China Hospital Confirms Whistleblowing Coronavirus Doctor's Death
(Wuhan, China) -- A hospital in China is confirming that a doctor who first sounded the alarm over the coronavirus has died from the disease. There had been conflicting reports over the fate of Dr. Li Wenliang [[ lee wen-yang ]], with Chinese media initially countering reports that he died. Wuhan Central Hospital has now come out to say that Wenliang passed away, adding "we deeply regret and mourn this." Wenliang was an eye doctor who first publicized the emergence of the respiratory illness in China back in December. He faced retaliation for breaking the news. The coronavirus has killed hundreds of people, with thousands more infected.
11 Military Bases Chosen For Possible Quarantine Sites
(Washington, DC) -- More military bases are preparing to quarantine coronavirus evacuees from China if needed. The Defense Department chose 11 locations today to match the 11 airports already funneling flights because of the respiratory illness. That includes Honolulu, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, New York, Seattle, D.C., Newark and Detroit. Each base could provide possible housing for up to 20 travelers for the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

(Wuhan, China) -- With 31-thousand people now sick from the Coronavirus, the name is well known. But that could change by next week. Scientists are meeting to decide what to call this quickly spreading disease. It's similar to SARS, which emerged in China in 2002 and killed 700 people. The coronavirus death toll is nearing that. So far, the committee seems to favor using SARS in the new name.

CDC Sends Out Coronavirus Testing Kits To Labs
(Washington, DC) -- Testing kits for the coronavirus are headed to 100 labs across the country and 100 more overseas. The CDC just sent them out. Each kit contains about 800 tests. Health officials call this a critical step forward in protecting the public. More than 800 CDC workers are focused on the outbreak, including 200 who've been moved to airports and bases housing quarantined passengers. So far, there are 12 confirmed patients in the U.S but the CDC is awaiting results on 76 possible cases. NYC Mayor Says City Is Closer To Doing Coronavirus Testing
(New York, NY) -- Mayor de Blasio says New York City is one step closer to being able to test coronavirus samples. Right now, all the testing is done by the CDC out of Atlanta. The Mayor says the CDC has agreed to give New York the tools to get it done but now it needs local labs to get the okay to proceed.
