City to begin site prep on public restroom in Central Park Darren Dunn

(Seguin) -- The city of Seguin is moving forward with its plans to install a public restroom facility in Central Park. The Seguin City Council recently approved the purchase of the structure that will house the restrooms. In preparation for that installation, the council last week hired a local contractor to handle the site prep work inside the park. Kyle Kramm, Main Street and CVB Director, says the public restrooms in downtown Seguin have been needed for a long time. He says they are excited about the upcoming installation. “At the December 3rd, 2024 City Council meeting, we awarded a contract to Restroom Facilities Limited to actually purchase the building that would be the downtown restrooms. And so, we are continuing that process of getting things ready for that site when the restrooms come in,” said Kramm. The city is eager to get the restrooms installed, but Kramm says the site prep

needs to take place first. “These are things like the ADA access, the site permit, grading the site, as well as compacting the soil for the building when it comes, and lots of other items that will be required for the site,” said Kramm. The city is hiring Sullivan Contracting Services to handle all the site work that needs to be done, so that the restrooms can be installed. “We received a quote from Sullivan Contracting Services, a Choice Partners Purchasing Cooperative member, for $136,809.57. This project did come in a little over what we had anticipated, so we already approved...a budget adjustment using ARPA funds to make up that difference of about $70,000,” said Kramm. Accessible and clean public restrooms have been on a wish-list of items for downtown Seguin for decades. Kramm says the current public restrooms in the downtown area are limited. Restroom, pg. 3
