History Today: State Journals Teacher Implementation Guide

History Today State Journals is a collection that invites students to join Scoop, our very own History Detective, as they learn about all 50 states! Students become historians as they customize their state journals and research the geography, economics, government, and history of their state. Students will get to learn about each of the 50 states by completing an interactive journal that prompts them to research, expand their thinking, and uncover what makes that state unique.
Best Practices Research: This interactive state research project was created to support students in researching their own states or others across the U.S. We suggest providing students with guidance on how to independently research and find appropriate resources to use in this process. Multi-day Activities: Complete the state journal over multiple days to ensure students are able to adequately make use of a variety of resources to complete and input their research. Show What You Know: The Show What You Know activity provides students with a culminating project for students to showcase their knowledge about the geography, economics, government, and history of their state. Students may complete this project online using Seesaw or other digital tools, or create their final project offline.
