Choral Call to Worship My Shepherd Will Supply My Need arr. Virgil Thomson Sanctuary Choir; Dr. Michelle Louer, conductor (1896-1989)
My Shepherd will supply my need, Jehovah is his Name; In pastures fresh he makes me feed beside the living stream. He brings my wand’ring spirit back when I forsake his ways, He leads me for His mercy’s sake in paths of truth and grace.
Text: Henry Williams Baker (1821 – 12 February 1877)
* Call to Worship
One: Jesus, the Good Shepherd, calls us by name and leads us with love.
All: We come to follow him, our shepherd and guide.
One: He lays down his life for the sheep, showing us the depth of his care.
All: We come to worship the one who knows us and loves us, who leads us to green pastures.
One: We hear his voice calling us to safety and rest, to peace and protection.
All: We come to be healed, to be nourished, and to be led by the Good Shepherd.
* Prayer of Adoration
* Processional Hymn #387 Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us
Rev. Audrey F. Thorne
BRADBURY (American melody)
Good Shepherd, We confess that we have often wandered from your fold, seeking our own way. We have listened to voices that lead us astray and ignored your gentle call. When we are lost, we fail to trust in your care and guidance, and we try to find our own way to safety. Forgive us, Lord, for our wayward hearts and our stubbornness. Call us back to your loving embrace, and help us to follow your voice with trust and obedience.
We thank you for laying down your life for us, and we offer our lives to you in return. In your name, we pray. (Silent Prayer)
Assurance of God’s Grace
* Response of Praise
Alleluia, Alleluia! Give Thanks

* Passing the Peace of Christ
* Hymn #171

Come, Together Let Us Sing
Danny Fisher, piano; Mark Blessing, oboe
Come, together let us sing, God for all His goodness praising; Grateful thanks to Him we bring, Joyfully our voices raising. Praise to God in highest heaven, And on earth be glory given.

Prayer for Illumination
First Scripture Lesson
Colossians 1:15-20
Anthem Rise Up, My Love
Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For lo, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear upon the earth; The time of the singing of birds is come. Arise my love, my fair one, and come away.
Text: Song of Solomon 2:10b-12a
Second Scripture Lesson
J.S. Bach
John 10:2-5, 10-15 (p. 978)
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
(John 10:11)
Moment of Silent Meditation
Offertory
Rev. Thomas P. Markey
How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings Samuel Liddle Caitlin Stewart, soprano (1867-1951)
How lovely are Thy dwellings, O Lord of Hosts! My soul longeth, ye, fainteth, for the courts of the Lord: My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Yea, the sparrow hath found her a house, and the swallow a nest, where she may lay her young, even Thine altars, O Lord of Hosts, my King and my God. O Lord God of Hosts, hear my prayer. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. For a day in Thy courts is better than a thousand. How lovely are Thy dwellings, O Lord of Hosts!

Prayers of Intercession and Dedication
Service of Baptism and Confirmation
