FROM THE HELM

LETTER FROM THE EDITORS As we turn the page on a new year, January invites us to pause, reset, and step forward with intention. At Seabrook Island Club, this season feels especially meaningful as we embrace wellness in all its forms—physical, professional, personal, and communal—while looking ahead with optimism and gratitude. The new year also brings moments of growth and transition within our Communications Department. Anna is joyfully preparing to welcome a new addition to her family this February, a milestone that marks an exciting new chapter. During her time away, Eve will be stepping in to lead the department, ensuring continuity while also bringing fresh energy and perspective. This season feels like a fresh start for both of us, each in different but equally meaningful places in our lives. We are also proud to share that Eve was recently recognized as a Rising Star of the Seabrook Island Club staff, and she will be tackling the year ahead with verve, creativity, and a renewed sense of possibility—bringing new ideas to the table as we look toward 2026 and beyond. We encourage you to take time during the big moments of the year ahead to appreciate the small blessings—the quiet mornings, shared laughter, meaningful connections, and the beautiful place we are fortunate to call home. We are excited to see where Seabrook Island Club goes next and honored to be part of the journey with you. Wishing you a healthy, fulfilling, and inspired year ahead! Warmly,

Anna Ridge DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS

A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS As I write this letter, I’m aware that this marks my final full month serving as President of Seabrook Island Club. That reality brings with it a mix of gratitude, pride, and reflection. Being a Member of this Club is special. Serving it in a leadership capacity is something altogether different. I’ve had the privilege of seeing Seabrook from the inside out, getting to know our staff and fellow Members in a meaningful way, and experiencing firsthand the engine that keeps this place running. It has truly been eyeopening to witness the dedication, care, and teamwork that goes into ensuring our Members enjoy the elevated experience that they expect. As we close out 2025, I can’t help but feel proud of all that has been accomplished. We wrapped up the year with a bang, full of exciting events, memorable moments, and a strong sense of momentum. That energy is carrying us straight into 2026, a year that promises new ideas, new initiatives, and a renewed vision for the future of our Club. With new leadership taking shape at both the Board and executive levels, and the Club’s master plan beginning to take form in various capacities, we are entering an exciting chapter. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a strong, passionate team leading the way into this next season, and I am confident in the direction we are headed. Looking ahead, I am excited for all that 2026 holds: fun events, special holidays, meaningful Member milestones, and family memories. I hope you’ll join us at our signature events, bring your family and friends, and continue to share in all that makes this Club so unique. Seabrook Island Club is more than a place—it’s a community . I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served and for the Member relationships I have built along the way. I can’t wait to see where the future takes us, and I look forward to cheering this Club on in the years ahead.

INTRODUCING THE SEABROOK STAKES A NEW SEASON-LONG CHAMPIONSHIP AT SEABROOK ISLAND CLUB

January marks the debut of an exciting new competitive tradition at Seabrook Island Club: the inaugural Seabrook Stakes. This seasonlong championship brings together 12 regular-season events into one unified points race designed to reward consistency, competitive performance, and participation throughout the year. Players earn individual points at each event—regardless of format—with select tournaments carrying point multipliers to elevate the importance of major championships and match play events. The Seabrook Stakes schedule runs from January through November and features a wide variety of formats, including best ball, shamble, stroke play, and match play. The season begins with the Chili Bowl on January 9 and includes signature events such as the Spring Member-Member, Club Championship, Red, White & Blue, NFL Draft Tournament, Presidents Cup, and Fall Member-Member. This diversity ensures the competition tests every aspect of a player’s game while keeping the season engaging and dynamic. At the conclusion of the regular season, the top 18 players in the standings will advance to the Seabrook Stakes Finale in December. The championship concludes with an individual opening round, followed by a dramatic Horse Race on Ocean Winds, where the final nine players are eliminated hole-by-hole until the first-ever Seabrook Stakes Champion is crowned. Members are encouraged to follow along, compete often, and be part of the inaugural year of what promises to become a premier club tradition.

RANDY MURRAY HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONAL We are pleased to announce the promotion of Randy Murray to Head Golf Professional at Seabrook Island Club! Randy has been involved in the game of golf since the age of 10, competing at both the amateur and professional levels. He played collegiate golf at the Division I and Division III levels before gaining professional experience on the Gulf Coast Tour. Randy later transitioned into the club professional side of the game, beginning his career at Cherokee Town & Country Club in Atlanta before moving to Fripp Island Club, where he served as Head Golf Professional and later as Director of Golf, overseeing operations for the club’s two courses. Randy joined the Seabrook Island Golf professional staff in 2008 and is a PGA Member with 25 years of membership and more than 32 years of experience in the golf industry. He brings extensive expertise in tournament operations, having led member events, championships, and competitive tournaments throughout his career. As an instructor, Randy believes that every golfer has a unique swing and that instruction should be tailored to the individual. He is also a certified club fitter for Callaway, TaylorMade, Ping, Srixon, and Titleist. Randy understands the importance of consistency in the member experience and is known for creating positive outcomes in every situation. We are confident he will continue to be an exceptional asset to our Members and to Seabrook Island Club. - Martin McTernan PGA, Director of Golf

THE PURPOSE OF A GOOD PRE-SHOT ROUTINE I hear people say all the time, “I can do it on the range, but not on the golf course.” Or I hear “I get distracted by the people and situations that are around me on the golf course.” The best way to overcome that is to have a good preshot routine. This should be practiced on the range and implemented on the golf course. Every shot on the range, you should hit after performing your routine. A simple routine could look like: 1.Take a few practice swings 2.Stand behind the ball to look for your target line 3.Walk into the shot, setting your club face to the target, then setting your body to match that line. 4.Check your ball placement. Does the ball need to go forward or back in the stance? 5.Make sure your weight is distributed properly (not necessarily evenly) 6.Take one more look at your target. 7.Take a deep breath in and out. 8.Then strike the ball This is just one example of what a pre-shot routine entails. If you become dialed in on this, it will help block out the noise when you are on the course, relax or remove the tension from your body, build confidence in your swing, and allow you to hit more consistently struck shots. EQUESTRIAN CENTER

DIRECTOR OF EQUESTRIAN CHARLES HAIRFIELD

A new year at the Equestrian Center is a time for reflection, connection, and fresh routines. January offers a peaceful rhythm—perfect for enjoying the horses, the natural beauty of the island, and the sense of calm that comes with winter riding. From featured horses to thoughtful programming, the season encourages both mindfulness and meaningful time in the saddle.

A MOMENT FOR MINDFULNESS: OUR MORNING AT THE EQUESTRIAN CENTER Before the holiday season was fully underway, a small group of Seabrook Island Club employees participated in a meaningful volunteer day at the Seabrook Island Equestrian Center. Led by Equestrian Center Director, Charles Hairifield and his dedicated team, five employees spent a morning immersed not only in learning about horses, but also in gaining deeper insight into themselves. The experience was thoughtfully designed to be both hands-on and reflective, offering a therapeutic quality that proved unexpected and impactful. Through a series of guided activities, including grooming and tacking horses, leading them, riding, and working in the round pen, participants were encouraged to think differently, remain present, and engage authentically. Each activity reinforced why the horse is often considered the perfect teacher. Horses require clarity, trust, and awareness, challenging individuals to release inhibitions and communicate with intention. In return, they provide an honest reflection that fosters self-awareness, confidence, and connection. Working alongside these animals highlighted their unique ability to draw out the most genuine versions of those who engage with them. Seabrook Island Club is fortunate to have these remarkable animals and the Equestrian Center right at its fingertips. Horses have long been part of the Seabrook and Kiawah heritage, and the continuation of that tradition remains a valued and meaningful part of the Club experience today. Charles and the Equestrian Center team were exceptional leaders throughout the day, creating an environment that supported connection—both with the horses and among participants. Their guidance and expertise made the experience memorable and deeply impactful. Looking ahead, there is great excitement surrounding what 2026 will bring to the Equestrian Center, including new programs and opportunities that will continue to enrich the Seabrook Island Club community. If you were looking for a sign to pause, reconnect, and try something out of your comfort zone, try moseying on down to the Equestrian Center and you might leave learning more than you bargained for.

Jeffrey J Davis

Fun Fact: This photo was taken by Member Jeffrey J Davis on August 19, 2025 when this 120 ft derelict Navy Minesweeper HAZAR was being towed out to sea to ultimately be sunk as an artificial reef. The vessel was originally abandoned in the marsh across from Jenkins Point for several years. The ship’s abandonment was considered “an environmental disaster waiting to happen” and several Seabrook Island Club Members were vocal with local EPA, SCDNR, and Corp of Engineers to advocate for its removal.

COMMUNITY COMPASS

26 THINGS TO DO FOR A FRESH START IN 2026 January offers a rare pause: a moment to reset, refocus, and gently set the tone for the year ahead. Rather than resolutions, we’re embracing intention: small, meaningful ways to reconnect with ourselves, our routines, and our community. Inspired by the simple joys of island living and the opportunities that surround us at Seabrook Island Club, here are 26 ways to welcome a fresh start in 2026 - one thoughtful moment at a time. 1. Take an early-morning walk along the beach and watch the sunrise. 2. Book a lesson or clinic to refine your golf or racquet game. 3. Try a new wellness-focused class or fitness routine at the Lakehouse. 4. Enjoy a tech-free afternoon outdoors. 5. Invite a fellow Member for coffee or a walk you’ve never connected with before. 6. Set one personal wellness goal: physical, mental, or emotional. 7. Spend time at the Equestrian Center, even if just to visit the horses. 8. Explore a new winter dining offering or seasonal menu item. 9. Revisit a favorite Club tradition and see it with fresh eyes. 10. Schedule time for purposeful rest — without guilt. 11. Join a social event or gathering outside your usual routine. 12. Declutter one space at home to create calm and clarity. 13. Cross off that project that’s been on your list forever. 14. Plan a friendly game or match just for fun. 15. Try cooking a new recipe inspired by a recent Club event. 16. Spend time appreciating the island’s winter landscapes. 17. Attend a Club event with the intention of simply being present. 18. Reconnect with nature—barefoot in the sand or beneath the live oaks. 19. Set a goal to learn something new this year. 20. Enjoy a solo moment at the Club — coffee, reading, or reflection. 21. Write down three things you’re grateful for each week in January. 22. Tidy up your digital space: clear your inbox, delete old downloads, or remove unused apps. 23. Send a handwritten card to a friend you haven’t talked to in awhile - just because. 24. Treat yourself! Buy yourself flowers, a nice coffee, or a new gadget. 25. Try joining a new club - discover a new interest and make like-minded friends. 26. Welcome 2026 with curiosity, intention, and a sense of possibility.
