16th Annual Boating & Beach Bash For People With Disabilities Welcomes Back Families For Fun Nation’s largest, FREE, one-day event for people with disabilities – both seen and unseen – returns to Boca Raton on March 15 The 16th Annual Boating & Beach Bash for People with Disabilities – the nation’s largest, free, one-day event for people with disabilities, both seen and unseen – will again welcome back families who love the beach, boat rides and fun! Presented by the American Disabilities Foundation (ADF), the Bash returns to Boca Raton’s Spanish River Park, which is conveniently located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway to give guests easy access to the beach and free boat rides. Always a highlight are the free boat rides, safely held by volunteer boat captains who donate their vessels for a day of fun. On the other side of the park, special Mobi-Mats are rolled out on the sand, making the beach accessible to guests in wheelchairs. YMCA’s water safety team and physical therapists will be on-hand to give everyone access to the water and other recreational activities on the beach. 16th Annual Boating & Beach Bash on page 2
Hanley Foundation Raises Junior League Of Boca $150,000 For Recovery Raton To Present Boca Scholarships And Prevention Bazaar, A Modern Luxury Programs At 4th Annual Thrift Sale Brice Makris Brunch The Junior League of Boca Raton (JLBR) will present the Boca Bazaar, a modern luxury thrift sale, on Saturday, March 8 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Sunday, March 9 from 9 a.m. until noon at Plastridge Insurance, 2100 Dixie Highway, Boca Raton. Luxury will meet thrift in a unique shopping experience. Guests can explore an exceptional collection of curated items, from vintage T-shirts and high-end fashion to chic home décor and elegant housewares. “This one-of-a-kind event offers the perfect opportunity to shop sustainably while indulging in fabulous finds at unbeatable prices,” Nicole Stelzer, president of the Junior League of Boca Raton said. More than 200 guests joined Hanley Foundation in raising $150,000 at the Fourth Annual Brice Makris Brunch on Sunday, Dec. 15, at The Boca Raton. Michelle Makris, a board member of Hanley Foundation, and her husband John, chaired the event to honor their son Brice who tragically passed away at 23 from fentanyl poisoning. The brunch supported the Hanley Foundation’s Brice Makris Endowment Fund, providing scholarships for lifesaving treatments and funding addiction prevention programs. Matt Williams, founder of FROPRO Snack Bar, served as the brunch’s featured guest speaker. Williams shared his journey of recovery, a time when he envisioned FROPRO, and how he started the local venture with his wife. He now serves as a mentor and recovery coach to young men in recovery.
