My name is Jerrisha Johnson and I’m a Black mom who’s fed up with the racism and injustices of the K-12 Public School System. My child was attending Red Hawk Elementary in Temecula, Ca when she was called the “N” word in her second grade class. She was embarrassed and deeply hurt. I tried meeting with school officials to redress the usage of hate speech and bullying against my child but found out

they weren’t interested in solving the problems of racism in their school. Their response was devoid of any concern or empathy as they gave the common response that actions pertaining to other students must be kept confidential. Appalled at the lack of any appropriate response, I further sought redress from the school district’s officials. I asked for a resolution to deal with the problem and keep my child safe. This did not happen and I was sent around in circles like a hamster on a wheel. See FIGHT page 2
