The Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate Impact Report FY24-25
Dear Donor,
The Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate had a successful and productive year pursuing our traditional programs and implementing new initiatives. The Center sponsored and hosted events aimed at the local real estate community, with spotlight events on various area development, capital market panels, supplemental education and certifcation programs, career events, mentorships, and regular alumni gatherings.
Interaction with the students through these programs ofers a glimpse into their personal goals, challenges, and aspirations. Many students work part-time in the community and on campus, and juggle their school schedule, the specter of graduation, and their personal lives. It is a pleasure to see the Center provide a role in growing the students as academics, professionals, and productive members of the Aztec and San Diego communities.
We are grateful to the many donors, individuals, and frms that support our activities, bridging the academic and professional communities as a resource for our hardworking students.

Thriving in the Aztec Experience
Nyrika Afshari, Class of 2025
Class Level: Undergraduate Student College: Fowler College of Business Major: Finance Real Estate
When I frst transferred to SDSU, I joined the Real Estate Society (RES), Finance & Investment Society (FIS), Entrepreneur Society (ES), and FCB Ambassadors Program to meet like-minded people and fgure out my career path.
I loved being involved in school organizations and have served on the executive board for RES and FIS as a membership director. I fgured out I want to pursue commercial real estate brokerage after competing in the NAIOP University Challenge during my junior year.
I will be pursuing this passion in Downtown LA postgraduation as an intern with CBRE. I am thankful for the opportunities that Fowler has provided me—these experiences have been pivotal in helping build my skill set and advance my career.

Jackson Phillips, Class of 2025 Class Level: Undergraduate Student College: Fowler College of Business Major: Finance Real Estate
The Fowler College of Business (FCB) didn’t just give me an education—it gave me direction. Thanks to FCB and The Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate (TCMCRE), I’ve grown into a focused, driven professional and accomplished things I never thought possible.
My proudest moment was leading SDSU to victory in the 2025 NAIOP University Challenge. With support from TCMCRE and a sharp, hardworking team, we brought the trophy back for the frst time in over seven years. We took a real development proposal from concept to pitch and presented it to top professionals from across the region.
I also remained active in the Real Estate Society, the Finance & Investment Society, and played lacrosse for three years. These communities constantly overlapped. My NAIOP teammates included friends from class, club meetings, and even the feld. It showed me how tight-knit and multidimensional the FCB really is.
I still remember going to a TCMCRE-hosted Snapdragon Stadium tour by myself as a sophomore. I left with new connections, new inspiration, and a clear vision for the kind of career I wanted to build. That is what the FCB does: it shows students what is possible and helps them get there.
“Thanks to FCB and The Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate (TCMCRE), I’ve grown into a focused, driven professional and accomplished things I never thought possible.
