College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts
Fiscal Year 2024-2025
Dear Donor,
I refect with gratitude on the dynamic activity, growth, and vision of the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts throughout Academic Year 2024–25. The school gained momentum with the launch of a collaborative strategic planning process, guided by shared values and bold ideas.
Among a long list of achievements, our criminal justice program once again ranked #2 among SDSU degrees, School of Communication professor Rachael Record received the Senate Excellence in Teaching Award, and 34 journalism and media studies students expanded their global perspective by visiting China.
At the University Art Gallery, a powerful exhibition honored artist Ruth Asawa, spotlighting Japanese American incarceration and resilience. Two School of Art and Design faculty earned prestigious innovation fellowships, and theatre, opera, music, and dance students took the stage nearly 300 times.
Our new B.A. in musical theatre joined B.F.A. dance majors for performance opportunities at SDSU Disney Day. Meanwhile, public afairs students tackled real-world policy in Tijuana, exploring health equity through restroom accessibility studies.
Looking ahead, our Performing Arts District will host the 2026 World International Fringe Festival, placing SDSU at the heart of a global celebration of the arts.
Our work thrives on the collective imagination of 575 dedicated faculty and staf, as well as supporters like you. Donors, alumni, and community partners make this journey possible.
