Sierra Canyon School is one of California's most prestigious independent schools. We have a long-standing tradition of enrolling international students into our diverse and inclusive community. Wide-ranging Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses are available. Applicants must be proficient in English as ESL courses are not offered. International students thrive in a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum designed to prepare students for entry into the top universities in the United States and abroad. Sierra Canyon’s International Program Director serves as an additional advisor to all international students and assists them in submitting college applications and preparing for the TOEFL & SAT or ACT.
The school day runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students have the opportunity to participate in numerous clubs, arts, and sports on campus as well as the many cultural, athletic, and entertainment offerings (hiking, skiing, surfing, golf) in the Greater Los Angeles and nearby areas.
Located on the northern edge of Los Angeles, the School offers international students a beautiful campus, safe surrounding neighborhoods, and convenient access to Los Angeles International Airport for trips home and back. A well-established homestay program is managed by a highly experienced International Program Director. Homestay families are interviewed extensively prior to selection and pairing with international students.
Sierra Canyon School is accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), California Junior Scholarship Federation (CJSF), is a member of the Cum Laude Society, and has a National Honor Society chapter.
Housing: Homestay and on-campus residences for Grades 9–12. Students in Grades K-8 may enroll if they reside with a parent or relative in the local area.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Sierra Canyon School enrolls students from around the world in Grades K-11 (Applications are not accepted for Grade 12). Younger students are eligible for admission if they plan to live in the local area with a parent or relative. Beginning in Grade 9, students may participate in Sierra Canyon's homestay program or on-campus boarding.
The following items are required as part of the application to Sierra Canyon:

o Standard Application Online (SAO)
• Copy of Passport
• Boarding/Homestay Application (for applicants to Grades 9 and above)
• Official transcript(s) – Grades from the past two years and the current school year are required. Translated copies in English are also requested.
• Three official letters of recommendation:
o Math teacher
o English teacher
o Administrator if available or a 3rd teacher of student’s choice
• Required Official Standardized Testing – only one of the following tests:
• Junior TOEFL – scores of 750+ preferred
• TOEFL – scores of 4.5+ preferred
• IELTS – scores of 6.5 – 8+ preferred
• Duolingo – scores of 110+ preferred
Students may be invited to a virtual interview after submitting a completed application. Applicants who complete their application by November 1 may be eligible for a limited number of in-person interviews in select international cities in early December.
Sierra Canyon School issues I-20 visas to students who are admitted after receipt of their enrollment deposit and signed contract.
