A Family Legacy Takes Center Court

Formorethantwodecades,theBrookerfamilyhasbeendeeplywovenintothefabricof SierraCanyonSchool.Inrecognitionoftheirextraordinarygenerosity,thecourtinsidethe LowerCampusKardashianJennerPavilionwillnowbeartheBrookername anenduringtribute toafamilywhoseconnectiontoSierraCanyonspansgenerations.

TheBrookerfamily'sjourneywithSierraCanyonbeganin2005,whenBarryandKerryenrolled theiroldestsoninkindergarten.Sincethen,theSchoolhasplayedacentralroleintheirlives,as allfiveoftheirchildrengrewuponSierraCanyon'scampuses Jon'17,Zach'20,Alex'20,Lauren, andtheiryoungestson,Kylan'31,whoiscurrentlyin7thGrade.Throughouttheyears,thefamily hasremaineddeeplycommittedtotheSchool'smission,withBarryservingonthe SierraCanyonBoardofTrusteesformorethanadecadeandprovidingthoughtfulleadership duringaperiodofcontinuedadvancementfortheSchool.

FortheBrookerchildren,SierraCanyonwasdefinedbyaclose-knitcommunitythatboth supportedandchallengedthem.Smallclasssizesfosteredmeaningfulrelationshipswith faculty."Teachersreallyknewyou yourstrengths,whatyouwereworkingon,andhowtohelp youimprove,"Jon'17shared."Thatkindofpersonalattentionmadeahugedifferenceandput usinthebestpositiontosucceed."

LaurenreflectedonthelastingimpactofhertimeasaTrailblazer,"SierraCanyoninstilledin meastrongsenseofdiscipline,acommitmenttohardwork,andanappreciationforthe importanceofbuildingmeaningfulrelationships."

Beyondacademics,athleticsandsharedcommunityspacesplayedanimportantroleinshaping theirSierraCanyonexperience.Fromearlymorningpracticestospiritedgamedays,the gymnasiumandcourtshavelongservedasgatheringplaceswherethecommunitycomes togetherincelebrationandschoolpride."Thecourtwasnotjustaboutbasketball,"Zach'20 shared."Itwasaboutcommunity,connection,andfriendshipsthatgrowfromspending countlesshoursinthegym.Itbecameasecondhome."ForeachoftheBrookersiblings,these spacesbecamepartofeverydaylifeatSierraCanyon.Whetherparticipatinginathletics,cheering alongsideclassmates,orattendingschool-wideeventsandassemblies,thegymnasiumservedas ahubforsharedexperiencesthathelpeddefinetheiryearsoncampus.

FortheBrookerfamily,givingbacktoSierraCanyonisanaturalextensionoftheirgratitudefor theroletheSchoolhasplayedintheirlives Reflectingonmorethan20yearsaspartofthe community,theyhavewitnessedremarkablegrowth fromtheearlydaysoftheLowerCampus OrangeGrovetothestate-of-the-art,vibrantcampusesthatservestudentstoday.

Morethan80SierraCanyonstudentsinGrades Pre-Kindergartenthrough7performedat UniversalStudiosCityWalkinavibrantcelebration oftheLowerSchoolMusicProgram.Featuring bothStringsandChoir,theprogramblended individualandensembleperformancesbefore culminatinginafull-groupfinale.

VISUAL ARTS EXHIBIT

UpperCampusartstudentsexploredarangeofideas, concepts,skills,andtechniquesthroughoutthefall semester The Visual Arts Exhibition: Best of Semester I showcasedthebreadthoftheSierraCanyonVisualArts Program,featuringworkacrossArchitecture,Drawing andPainting,Sculpture,andPhotography.The exhibitionbeganonthethirdfloor,continuedthrough thestairwellgallery,andextendedintotheLibrary, transformingcampusspacesintoadynamicdisplayof studentcreativity.

NATIONAL SHAKESPEARE COMPETITION

TheUpperCampusrecognizedninestudentsforthei outstandingperformancesintheSierraCanyon NationalShakespeareCompetition,alongstanding UpperSchooltradition Eachyear,thecompetition winneradvancestotheESANationalShakespeare Competition.

The2025–2026seasonmarkedadefiningchapterforSierraCanyonBasketball,asboththeBoysandGirls ProgramsreachedthepinnacleofcompetitionandfurthersolidifiedtheSchool'snationalreputationfor excellence.

OnahistoriceveningatToyotaArenainOntario,SierraCanyonmadehistoryasthefirstschooltowinboththe CIF-SSOpenDivisionBoysandGirlsBasketballtitlesinthesameyear.TheBoyssecureda59–53victoryover Harvard-Westlake,earningtheprogram'sthirdOpenDivisiontitleandextendingaremarkablewinningstreak withapoisedperformanceunderpressure.TheGirlsfollowedwithathrilling69–62comebackwinoverOntario Christian,claimingtheprogram'ssecondOpenDivisionchampionshipanddemonstratingresilienceand composureononeofthesport'sbiggeststages

ThemomentumcarriedintotheCIFStateTournament,wheretheBoysonceagainrosetotheoccasion.Witha 78–70victoryoverSalesianCollegePreparatoryatGolden1CenterinSacramento,theTrailblazerscapturedthe CIFStateOpenDivisionChampionship,securingback-to-backstatetitlesandthefifthinprogramhistory. Overcomingearlyadversity,theteamshowcaseditsdepth,leadership,andcompetitiveresolve,finishingthe seasonwitha30–1recordanda25-gamewinningstreak.

Beyondteamsuccess,theseasonwasdistinguishedbyindividualachievementatthehighestlevel.Forthefirst timeinschoolhistory,threeSierraCanyonstudent-athletes JerzyRobinson,MaxiAdams,andBrandonMcCoy Jr. werenamedMcDonald’sAll-Americans,oneofthemostprestigioushonorsinhighschoolbasketball.

Selectedfrommorethan700nomineesnationwide,theyjoinadistinguishedlegacyofTrailblazersrecognized onthisnationalstage,reflectingthecontinuedstrengthandvisibilityofourBasketballProgram.

UPPER CAMPUS CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

ExcitingprogresscontinuesontheCenterfortheArts asthevisionbeginstorisefromblueprinttoreality.The basementlevelistakingshapewithadditionalspaces nowdefinedforfutureclassroomsandoffices.Inside thetheatre,theinstallationofthemainwallsmarksa milestone,bringingtheperformancespaceintoclearer focus.OverSpringBreak,thearrivalofstructuralsteel willsignalthenextphaseofconstruction,layingthe frameworkthatwillcarrythebuildingskyward

AtSierraCanyon,givingismorethanparticipation itisasharedcommitmentthatdrivesprogress.Thanksto thecollectivecommitmentofourparents,grandparents,faculty,staff,andBoardofTrustees,theSchoolhas beenawardedagrantfromtheAhmansonFoundationinsupportoftheCenterfortheArts.Foundationsinvest ininstitutionsthatdemonstrateunityofpurposeandasharedbeliefintheirmission,andthisrecognitionisa directreflectionofthesolidarityofourcommunity.Thisgrantwillnotonlyadvanceconstructionbutaffirms thatSierraCanyonisstrengthenedbyacommunitywhosecommitmentsetsthestandardforwhatispossible.
