HeadofSchool Message
As I reflect on the 2024–2025 school year, I am filled with profound gratitude and admiration for the extraordinary moments made possible by our dedicated faculty and staff, parents, grandparents, and friends From student successes in and out of the classroom, to a record-breaking year for the Sierra Canyon Fund, the impact of your generosity can be seen in every corner of our campus Thanks to your support, we raised nearly $4 million to enrich academic programs, expand extracurricular offerings, and invest in the people who make Sierra Canyon special
This year, we also broke ground on the Everest Family Center for the Arts, a momentous step toward completing a visionary space that will nurture artistic expression and cultivate innovation for generations of students The excitement and energy surrounding this milestone have been nothing short of inspiring, and it is only possible because of the belief and commitment of this incredible community
The Annual Report serves as both a celebration and a thank you It honors the many Moments That Matter that shaped this unforgettable year and recognizes the people like you who helped make them happen Your support ensures that every student at Sierra Canyon is empowered to dream big, discover their passions, and leave their mark
Thank you for being part of this journey I look forward to the moments we will create together in the year ahead

The Farid Malek Memorial Scholarship HONORING A LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE:
Farid Malek believed in the power of hard work, the importance of education, and the life lessons found through athletics Rooted in their deep connection to Sierra Canyon, the Malek family wanted to create a tribute to honor Farid's legacy one that reflects his values and uplifts others.
The Farid Malek Memorial Scholarship will provide a full financial aid package to a deserving student who exemplifies a passion for academic excellence and a deep commitment to Sierra Canyon's Basketball program "Among all the schools Farid and his wife Jennifer visited, Sierra Canyon quickly became their first choice a school where both academics and athletics were highly valued," the family shared. "Farid was incredibly proud when his oldest child, Kayla, graduated from the Lower School in 2017. Sadly, that was the last graduation he attended before we lost him to cancer in 2018.”
"SIERRA CANYON HAS BEEN SUCH A MEANINGFUL PART OF OUR FAMILY'S JOURNEY," THE MALEK FAMILY EXPLAINED, "SO ESTABLISHING THE SCHOLARSHIP HERE FELT DEEPLY PERSONAL AND FITTING.”
Kayla went on to graduate from Sierra Canyon in 2024 and now plays collegiate basketball at Pomona-Pitzer Her younger siblings, Jordyn, now in 11th Grade and a Varsity Basketball player, and Brandon, entering 7th Grade, continue the family's Trailblazer legacy.

The scholarship's dual focus on academics and basketball directly reflects Farid's values "Education has always been a cornerstone in our family," the Maleks said "Farid played Varsity Basketball at Beverly Hills High School and was named MVP three years in a row He believed in playing hard and studying harder "
This new scholarship is more than a financial opportunity it is a message to future generations about the power of perseverance and purpose "We created this fund to keep Farid's name alive, but also to pass on his values," the family shared “It is not just about rewarding talent it is about recognizing character, drive, and resilience ”
The Maleks hope that this act of generosity serves as an inspiration to others in the Sierra Canyon community. “Whether it is through time, mentorship, or financial support, we believe everyone has something valuable to offer Farid always believed in lifting others up We hope this scholarship becomes a reminder of how one act of generosity can help shape someone's future ”
In honoring Farid Malek, the Malek family have become true Trailblazers paving the way for future students to thrive at Sierra Canyon through a gift that will leave a lasting legacy for years to come.
Academics MOMENTS OF DISCOVERY:

This year, our classrooms were filled with defining moments, breakthroughs, discoveries, and the curiosity that fuels lifelong learning Whether it was a Lower School student learning to read, a Middle School student leading a spirited class discussion, or a senior presenting their original research, these moments shaped intellect and character Our students rose to every challenge, supported by faculty who inspire excellence and ignite a love of learning. Each academic milestone was a testament to the passion and perseverance that make Sierra Canyon a place where learning truly matters.
Arts MOMENTS OF CREATIVITY:

Each year, the arts at Sierra Canyon are defined by moments that move us snippets of time when students step into the spotlight to share their visions and allow us a glimpse into their creative worlds Whether through a bold choice in a sculpture, a quiet vulnerability in a monologue, a swell of music filling a room, or a final brushstroke, these expressions remind us that these moments are not just performances or displays. These are personal experiences that connect us, inspire us, and stay with us long after the curtain falls.
Athletics MOMENTS

Athletics at Sierra Canyon continue to be defined by moments of grit, growth, and triumph that bring our community to its feet From the Varsity Boys Basketball Team winning the State Championship to our Middle School Girls Volleyball, Soccer, and Basketball Teams collectively earning five league titles, these achievements reflected more than athletic skill they captured the power of teamwork and perseverance. Whether on the field or in the classroom, our student-athletes created moments that will be remembered not just for the accolades earned but for the character and pride built along the way
Community

This year reminded us that the heart of Sierra Canyon is found not only in the classrooms, but in the connections we share as a community From Grandparents and Friends Day and cultural gatherings to volunteer and parent partnerships, these experiences brought us together in ways that strengthen our bonds and deepen our sense of belonging Each event reflected the generosity and shared commitment that surrounds our students every day making the 2024-2025 school year filled with Moments That Matter.

Thank you, MOMENTS MADE POSSIBLE:
