Meet Thomas Martens Thomas Martens is a Scouter of the 153rd Lusk and a Director of the Board within Scouting Ireland, where he contributes to national strategy, governance, and youth engagement. He has played a central role in shaping Scouting Ireland’s “Youth First” strategy, developing subcommittee governance recommendations ahead of the organisation’s 2026 WOSM/GSAT review, and championing WOSM compliance and the meaningful involvement of young people in decision-making. A Master graduate of St. John University York, Thomas brings Organizational Development, Leadership, Coaching & Mentoring and a strong commitment to volunteer leadership to his work. His Scouting achievements include Wood badge Holder for 35 years, Woodbadge Trainer for 32 Years, County Commissioner and Provincial Commissioner in Germany and Ireland, Member of the Board in Germany and Ireland reflecting a long-standing dedication to youth development at national level. Bilingual in English and German, with deep family roots in Hamburg & Lower Saxony, Thomas balances his volunteer governance work with a career in enterprise technology sales. He is based in Balbriggan, County Dublin.
