We thinke that Paradise and Calverie, Christ’s Crosse, and Adam’s tree, stood in one place; Looke Lord and finde both Adams met in me; As the first Adam’s sweat surrounds my face, May the last Adam’s blood my soule embrace. The chosen texts are taken from the first printed edition of Donne’s verse and prose of 1633, hence the layout and spelling, plus other textual matters relevant to that period. I have chosen this version rather than a modern edition as I feel it gets closer to Donne’s original sentiments and means of expression. - EG.
