Therefore, the tempo can fluctuate slightly at the discretion of the quartet such that the measures which have fewer notes can be played slightly faster, and the measures with more notes can be played slightly slower. *Flutter-tongue for tutti is optional. **The Alto Saxophone can choose whether or not to play one 12-15 second (NO LONGER!) cadenza. The musical material of the cadenza must be consistent and integrated with the materials of this whole composition (harmonically, motivically, and so forth), and must seem natural and musical. All of these cadenzas, by any and all alto saxophone players, are forever dedicated to Paul Bro, and the program note must specify this dedication. If no cadenza is played, measure 78 is TACET by the quartet.
