ii - interlude
1. (Fix clothes-peg on A string, 0.6â from bridge)
1. Tuning fork (right hand) ringing on wolf-inhibitor screw (Piano Foreground)
(after repeats:) * sfz
Violoncello
Cello follows piano; tremolo is colla parte but should not be exactly matched, and can become less so. Piano will continue the flourishes ad lib., until cello sound heralds âBâ.
âYâ tuning-fork tremolo on C string: sul pont. (c.2â) sim.
(Opening flourish = c.54 bpm)
Piano: play these four flourishes, with clear breaks, then repeat ad lib. (25-35â total) from the four.
Reduced note heads indicate approximation as to pitch; retain flourish shapes in repeats, but pitch variety is welcome. Nb: alignment of hands is not exact within figures. Cello signals the move to âBâ.
*After 25-35â, cello signs change to B by striking wolf-inhibitor screw with tuning-fork, thence signifying that piano moves to B chords.
