This work was commissioned by The Tanza Trust. It was first performed on 2nd June 2014, at Milton Court Concert Hall, London, by Alexander Rider.

In this piece the bottom C string should be tuned to C E and the bottom D string to D E. The composer and publishers would like to thank Imogen Barford and Alexander Rider for their help in the production of this score.
COMPOSER’S NOTE The title of this piece for solo harp, the man in the wind and the west moon, comes from a line in the Dylan Thomas poem, And death shall have no dominion. The piece is in four sections; the second, third and fourth are essentially repeats of the first, but as the harmonies shift through each section the following section begins with the new harmony. Every section has its own dynamic, but much is left open to interpretation by the player. the man in the wind and the west moon is dedicated to Helen Tunstall, who has played many of my harp parts over the years with great finesse and musicality.
