COMPOSER’S NOTE

This concerto lasts approximately 22 minutes and is in three continuous movements with a short Coda. It was completed in January 2023.

The outer sections are of similar length (ca. 5’) while the central section is somewhat longer (8.5’). Each movement has the same shape, starting with fast music followed by a slower and more lyrical episode. The structure attempts to create a feeling of time stretching and contracting repeatedly and thematic material is also repeated and modified to try and reinforce this impression.
