Alexander Levine (*1955) erhielt Klavier- und Klarinettenunterricht an der Gnessin-Musikschule in Moskau, anschließend studierte er am Gnessin-Institut (1976–1980) sowie bei Simon Bainbridge an der Londoner Guildhall School of Music and Drama (1993– 1995). Levine war erster Gitarrist des Moskauer RundfunkSinfonieorchesters, und seine Kompositionen für Radio und Fernsehen in Russland sind mit renommierten Preisen ausgezeichnet worden. Zu seinen Werken im Katalog der Edition Peters zählen The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom und Prayers for Mankind, beide für Chor a cappella. Seit 1992 lebt Levine in Großbritannien.

Prayers for Mankind

Alexander Levine (b. 1955) studied piano and clarinet at the Gnessin Music School (Moscow) and then at the Gnessin Music Academy (1976–1980); later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London (1993–5) with Simon Bainbridge. Levine was Principal Guitar in the Moscow Radio and Television Orchestra and his compositions have won prestigious awards for his work with television and radio in Russia. His works in the Peters Edition catalogue include The Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom and Prayers for Mankind, both for a cappella choir. Levine has lived in the United Kingdom since 1992.
