elcome to the 2017 GHSA Championship Series for baseball, the final GHSA events of this school year. Nearly four weeks ago these teams began competing in these playoffs, and now they are poised for the final challenge – competing for the State Championship. This year the championship series takes on added excitement as our teams compete in Rome and Savannah in professional baseball stadiums. The GHSA thanks the Rome Braves and the Savannah Bananas for their efforts in creating unforgettable opportunities for the baseball players in these final games. All of us in attendance anticipate a great show. The Georgia High School Association is proud of the commitment to excellence demonstrated by the players, the coaches and these two supporting organizations. Georgia has enjoyed high-quality play in baseball and

ith eight baseball state titles to hand out this year, the 2017 GHSA baseball state championships open with two straight days of back-to-back double-headers. Rome’s State Mutual Stadium and Savannah’s Grayson Stadium host the action for the first time. The Battle of Towne Lake takes on championship stakes in Class 7A as Woodstock and Etowah—the No. 3 and 4 seeds from Region 4, respectively—meet for the fourth time this season (Woodstock leads the series, 2-1).
