At Glen Raven, we've always taken the long view, and our approach to sustainability is rooted in this principle. We see sustainability not as a destination, but as an ongoing commitment shaped by intentional choices made every day.

Intentionality shows up in how we prioritize safety and working conditions across our global facilities. It guides how we design products built to last, reducing waste through durability, quality, and long term value. From how we distribute goods to how we maintain our manufacturing facilities, we strive for operational excellence in everything we touch—because we believe the small choices we make each day add up to something much larger.

In 2019, Glen Raven established nine ambitious sustainability goals to help guide our progress. Over the past five years, we have been transparent about how we’ve advanced those priorities—celebrating important progress, acknowledging challenges, and adapting along the way. Ultimately, we focused on making continuous improvements and innovations that minimize our impact, while meeting the evolving needs of our customers with exceptional quality and performance.

Those initial five year goals provided valuable direction, and our commitment to sustainability continues to move forward. In this year’s Greenovation Report, we share how intentional decision making shapes every step of our journey—from sourcing materials to extending the life of our fibers through reuse and recycling. This work remains focused on progress, performance, and responsibility.

I will be candid with you: sustainability is a learning process, and we do not have every answer. Continuous improvement is about learning every step of the way–and those lessons are what drive us to continue listening, improving and making the best decisions we can for our people, our customers, and our planet.

THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY IS THE FOUNDATION OF OUR APPROACH.

A HISTORY OF SUSTAINABLE THINKING

Glen Raven has been focused on reducing our impact long before ‘sustainability’ was a household word. In the 1960s, Glen Raven introduced our first solution-dyed synthetic yarn. This revolutionary approach meant that our fabrics became highly resistant to fading and mold—increasing the durability and lifespan of our products. Over the years, we’ve continued to refine our processes, reduce waste, and offer products and services that are built to last.

Glen Raven began partnering with fiber recyclers in the 1960s. By 1986, 100% of Sunbrella textile waste was collected and sent to recyclers

MEASURING OUR IMPACT

Glen Raven is lowering our global carbon footprint using a combination of increased energy efficiency and renewable energy. Reducing our footprint helps us minimize our environmental impact, while also enabling us to optimize the efficiency of our operations.

Since 2019, Glen Raven has reduced our Net Scope 1 & 2 carbon footprint by 78%.

WHAT IS A CARBON FOOTPRINT?

Carbon footprint is a tool for analyzing direct and indirect emissions of greenhouse gases generated by a company. This data is expressed as carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e). Defined as ‘scopes,’ this assessment is the starting point for defining the new trajectories for reducing our carbon footprint in the future. ‘Scope’ corresponds to specific international calculation methods for specific measurements:

Scope 1 : Direct emissions from fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal, etc.)

Scope 2 : Indirect emissions from electricity consumption and heating/cooling networks

DESIGNED FOR DURABILITY

From the first spark of an idea, our textiles are designed with the long-term in mind— because one of the best ways to reduce impact is to produce products that customers and consumers will be excited to use for years to come.

Glen Raven fabrics are recognized for their resistance, performance, and stability to guarantee impeccable quality over time. Our unique process makes our fabrics inherently fade-resistant, UV-protective, and durable to the core; maintaining color and quality through cleaning, wear, or exposure to the outdoor elements.

In a culture where too many things are disposable—our products are made to stand the test of time.

LIFE CYCLE ANALYSIS

LIFE CYCLE ANALYSIS DEBUTS IN EUROPE

In Europe, the Glen Raven team is going even further by using Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to measure the impact of each product. LCAs are measured over the life cycle of each product, from the extraction of raw materials to the end of their life. They are verified by Greenly, a platform and measurement tool.

Life cycle analysis

Since the beginning of 2025, a simplified LCA has been available for each of our products. For these LCAs, only carbon criterion are taken into account.

Example of LCA:

One square metre of Origin sun protection fabric has an impact of 3.84kgCO2e* for a 15-year lifespan. This ecodesigned fabric is made from 50% recycled fibers and emits 26% less emissions compared to a similar fabric not made from recycled fibers.

SOURCING DURABLE RAW MATERIALS

Products are only as good as the materials they are made from. That’s why Glen Raven carefully sources our raw materials, evaluating our partners and suppliers with intention.

Our main raw materials are solution-dyed, colored to the fiber’s core.

By solution dyeing, we maintain a low-pollution industrial process that uses less water, energy, and chemicals. Because our fibers are produced to exclusive specifications, we produce fabrics that are highly durable and resistant to wear and fading.

TO MINIMIZE WASTE

We work hard to reduce as much waste as possible during our manufacturing process. Our teams recover and sort waste yarns, woven and treated selvedges, and fabric offsets that result from our manufacturing process. This waste is transformed into recycled fibers—and many of those fibers are reintegrated back into Glen Raven products, including the Endless Stories and ReCycled collections

Since tracking began in 2019, Glen Raven has used more than 4,876,353 pounds of recycled materials in our products.

A RELENTLESS COMMITMENT TO SAFETY

At Glen Raven, keeping our operating facilities and associates safe is a priority we take very seriously. We believe in treating people fairly and making sure that everyone goes home healthy—a commitment that every member of our team brings to work each day.

We take a multi-faceted approach to safety. This includes weekly and monthly Safety Meetings at each manufacturing facility, where team leaders are encouraged to raise concerns and share insights that contribute to improvement. Both our onboarding and recurring training programs equip associates with the skills and knowledge they need to identify hazards, mitigate risks, and respond effectively to emergencies.

Our associates also have access to on-site wellness clinics, mental health resources, and other support to effectively engage physical, mental, and emotional needs.

For years, we have exceeded the safety standard, maintaining an injury rate of less than 50% of the industry average according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In 2025, we had the lowest recorded injury rate in company history , thanks to the complete determination of our associates to create safe environments where people thrive.

SAFETY CERTIFICATIONS & AWARDS

Globally, our manufacturing facilities have been recognized as safe workplaces, achieving rigorous certifications and awards for those efforts. Our manufacturing facilities in North Carolina and South Carolina are part of the U.S. National Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and each has been certified as Carolina Star or Palmetto Star sites for their excellent safety record. Our manufacturing facilities in France and China are certified to ISO 45001 , an International Standard that specifies requirements for occupational health and safety management systems. Each of these certifications drives continuous improvement of safer workplaces—a critical part of prioritizing safe working conditions and associate well-being.

TOTAL RECORDABLE INCIDENT RATE

In 2025, Glen Raven achieved its safest year on record , at all of our global locations— including manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, and corporate offices—with a total recordable incident rate (TRIR) of just 0.39%. OSHA developed the TRIR calculation to gauge a company’s safety record compared to its peers. It looks at the number of recordable incidents per 100 full-time workers during a year—and helps us ensure that our safety practices are making their intended impact to keep our associates safe and healthy.

PRODUCTION ENERGY EFFICIENCY FOR RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION

Sustainability isn’t just about the products themselves. It’s about the way they are made.

We reduce the environmental impact of our operating facilities by prioritizing operational excellence—focusing on the measures that make us efficient, safe, and optimized.

For energy, this means being efficient with our electricity and gas consumption and by careful chemical and waste management. It also means making sure our buildings are fitted with the most efficient energy and water management systems. In 2025 those upfits included adding LED lighting to some of our manufacturing facilities for higher efficiency, replacing a plant roof with reflective polymer to keep the building cooler, and investing in a more efficient chiller system at one of our facilities.

In 2019, Glen Raven set a goal to become 100% powered by certified renewable energy by 2025—a goal we achieved. By purchasing renewable energy certificates from sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, we are reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and avoiding the related environmental impacts.

Over the last fifteen years, Glen Raven has installed solar panels at our US, French, and Chinese manufacturing facilities. These solar panels produce power that help us reduce the impact of our operations.

LOGISTICS

OPTIMIZED FLOWS AT EVERY LEVEL

From packaging to distribution to delivery to our customers, Glen Raven leverages our global logistics capabilities to facilitate responsible practices across our brands and operating facilities.

Packaging is a necessary part of getting our products to consumers—it's why we prioritize boxes made of recycled cardboard at our distribution centers. We reduce plastic waste by reusing plastic tray packs and other materials rather than relying on single-use items.

At Glen Raven Logistics, we prioritize fuel efficiency, operating a fleet of tractors that are California Air Resource Board (CARB) compliant, largely considered the highest standard of emissions mitigation technology. For more than a decade, GRL has been SmartWay certified, a national EPA certification that demonstrates our commitment to load capacity management, emissions controls, and sustainable practices in the transportation industry.

In Europe, our all inter-site transportation has been carried out with XTL biofuel since late 2024, which represents a 90% reduction in CO2 along this route.

Our team is also working on train transportation for raw materials and has reduced air transportation in favor of sea wherever possible, in an effort to further reduce our impact.

SMARTWAY CERTIFIED

GRL has been SmartWay certified for more than a decade. This is a national certification from the EPA that recognizes partners who reduce the impact of their shipping and transportation process.

We believe in the safety of our products and care about their impact on the environment, which is why we seek out industry-trusted, third-party certifiers who test and validate attributes in an unbiased manner. Our product certification portfolio includes:

HEALTHY INDOOR AIR QUALITY FREE FROM HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES/SAFE FOR END USE

UL GREENGUARD certification is a testing program for low-emitting products and materials. The majority of Sunbrella collections earn the GREENGUARD Gold certification.

Dickson® Flooring Products carry the FloorScore certification, the most recognized indoor air quality certification for hardsurface flooring materials, adhesives, and underlayments.

PROTECTION FROM THE SUN'S HARMFUL RAYS PRODUCT CONTENT

More than 100 Sunbrella outdoor shade fabrics hold the Seal of Recommendation from the Skin Cancer Foundation . The seal signifies that these fabrics pass the foundation’s rigorous testing criteria and offer significant levels of sun protection.

Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX ® certification indicates that products are free from harmful levels of over 100 hazardous substances, and are safe for their end use. Many Dickson, Sunbrella, and GlenGuard fabrics are certified.

GreenScreen Certified ® fabrics are free from several classes of chemicals of concern and are non-PFAS. This certification assures purchasers that the product meets industry Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP) standards. Sunbrella with Assure finish is Bronze certified under the GreenScreen Certified® for Furniture and Fabrics standard.

Glen Raven is a member of the Health Product Declaration ® Collaborative (HPDC) and supports its mission to improve the material health of the built environment.

Glen Raven was the first company to validate fabrics under the NSF/ANSI 336 Sustainability Assessment, a multiattribute evaluation tool for responsible manufacturing.

NEW LEASE ON

LIFE END OF LIFE? NO, NEW LEASE ON LIFE!

For more than 50 years, Glen Raven has recycled manufacturing waste and delivered it to partners who convert the materials into industrial products such as felt, automotive insulation, and filtration.

Today, our Recycle My Sunbrella and Recycle My Dickson programs enable consumers to participate in our recycling process. This special take-back program provides an alternative to disposal for fabric scraps, awning covers, boat covers, and upholstery fabric. No matter your location, customers can return used Sunbrella or Dickson products to start the recycling process.

Since the inception of these programs, our global teams have collected more than 662,000 pounds of fabric that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill.

HOW DOES GLEN RAVEN RECYCLE TEXTILE WASTE?

We use a mechanical recycling process for acrylic that requires no heat, chemicals, or water consumption, allowing us to recover our solution-dyed fibers, the raw material of our products. These high-performing machines produce high-quality recycled fiber.

These fibers are then reintroduced into our recycled collections, while those that don’t meet specifications are recovered for industrial applications.
