SCI-Arc

The Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) is an independent architecture school offering graduate and undergraduate degrees, urban and media studies, and public programs including open access exhibitions and lectures. Located in a quarter-mile long former freight depot in the Arts District in Downtown Los Angeles, the school is distinguished by the vibrant atmosphere of its studios and its pursuit of architecture as a tool for both artistic and social experimentation. Widely regarded as one of the most avant-garde U.S. architecture schools, with a reputation for pushing the boundaries of academic study, SCI-Arc has about 500 students and 80 faculty members, most of whom are practicing architects.
