Nothing But The Best
Wellfield Academy Values
At Wellfield Academy, we are committed to and passionate about providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student, can thrive. Our school team is dedicated to providing ‘nothing but the best’ and all work closely with students, their parents, and external specialists to ensure that the right support is available for each child.
As a school we recognise the importance of early identification and intervention to address the needs of pupils with SEND. The transition from primary to secondary school is a critical period for all students, but it holds particular significance for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We work with primary colleagues from approxiamately 20 feeder schools to ensure all pupils transition successfully.
Wellfield offers a wide range or resources, adaptations and inclass support, and access to targeted intervemtions, allowing all students to participate fully in school life. By fostering a culture of respect, understanding, an collaboration, we ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Miss Butterworth BA
Assistant Head Teacher for SEND and Inclusion
In my role as SENCO, I oversee the strategic and operational coordination of SEND provision across the school, ensuring that all pupils with additional needs receive high-quality, personalised support. As the Designated Teacher for Children in Care, I advocate for some of our most vulnerable learners, working closely with carers, social workers, and external agencies to secure the best possible outcomes. Alongside this, I serve as the Enhanced Resource Provision Strategic Lead, guiding the development and implementation of specialist interventions and inclusive practice across our wider school community. My work as an English teacher further grounds me in classroom practice, enabling me to model effective differentiation and maintain strong relationships with students.
I also hold senior leadership responsibilities as the line manager for the Deputy SENCO, SEND Assistants, and both Level 3 and Level 2 Teaching Assistants. In this capacity, I provide ongoing professional guidance, performance management, and day-to-day support to ensure that our team delivers consistent, high-impact provision. Through collaborative planning, coaching, and clear strategic oversight, I strive to build a cohesive team that places the needs of learners at the centre of everything we do.

I am trained in Fresh-Start Phonics and lead on the interventions daily, whilst overseeing the Doodle Maths and Spell interventions. I have a Level 2 qualification in Counselling Skills, enabling me to provide sensitive emotional support, build positive relationships and promote pupil wellbeing within the school environment.
