30th June 2023 Dear Parent Carers, Weekly Update 30/06/23 I hope this update finds you well. Today we said goodbye to our Year 11, Year 13 and Year 14 students. Students are moving on to a range of destinations:
Year 11s are moving up to Horizons 6th Form, Derby College, St Andrew’s, Chameleon College and YMCA Key College. Year 13s are going on to Derby College, Transition2, YMCA, and our supported internship programme, Project SEARCH, at the Royal Derby Hospital. Callum, our Year 14, is going on to Derby University to study Mathematics – we couldn’t be more proud!
We wish our leavers the very best for this next stage in their journey. At St Martins we aim for our students to build a successful future, and I am confident that they will go from strength to strength in their new settings and steps in their adulthood. I would like to thank the families of our leavers today – we’ve been on this journey together for a while, and your ongoing support and collaboration has been appreciated over the years. On Thursday, we said goodbye to a member of our team, Amy Sanders. Amy has worked with us as a Classroom Assistant over the last year. We wish Amy the very best in her journey. Arboretum Café St Martins and St Andrew’s School are delighted to let you know that we are going to be opening a café in Arboretum Park in the next academic year. The café will provide work experience opportunities for students, and will run year-round with involvement from local community groups. We are looking to recruit a manager to run the café, and take this exciting opportunity on. The role will be advertised on our website shortly. Please feel free to share this within your networks. Industrial Action As you are aware, Industrial Action is due to take place on Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th July. Thank you to those Parent Carers who have already let us know if their young person will be in school on those days.
