10th February 2023 Dear Parent Carers, Weekly Update: 10/02/23 I hope this update finds you well. This half term has flown past and we are nearing a well-deserved rest. Students break up on Thursday 16th February, returning on Monday 28th February. Our SENCO, Heather, has prepared another useful update for you which talks about Annual Reviews, School Transport, Class Charts, and ASD support appointments. I hope you find this helpful.
SEND Update February 2023 Annual Reviews: Thank you to all of the parent carers that have been involved with this academic year's annual reviews. The team chairing these reviews continue to enjoy celebrating the success of each student and it is a great opportunity to discuss our next steps and collaborations. As a school, we continue to work with the Local Authority to update plans and ensure our provision meets the needs of your young person. As always, your parent carer views ahead of any part of the meeting are vital. Please get in touch if you have any feedback or would like to discuss any aspect of the annual review process further. Transport: Myself, Toni & Sally will be meeting with Derby City Transport Team next week to discuss potential transport arrangements for the 2023-24 academic year. The Local Authority have recently updated their home to School Transport Assistance policy and we will be working in collaboration to ensure students that need to access transport, can do so. However, the Local Authority are also working with schools to streamline and save costs across the service. For all students leaving St Martins in Year 11, a NEW transport application must be completed for their next placement – this includes those transitioning to Horizons 6th Form. Forms are available from Sally in the school office. Class Charts: As a school, we are going to be launching Class Charts to reward positive behaviours and identify behaviours that students need support with.
