8th November 2024 Dear Parent Carers, Weekly Update: 08/11/24 We hope this update finds you well and rested after the half term break. It’s been a delight to welcome our school community back, and we look forward to a productive and fun half term ahead! The last half term seemed to end all of a sudden after our visit from Ofsted – we do not have the report to share with you yet, but will share this as soon as it is released. Thank you to all of the Parent Carers who came into school to support the Mini Monster Marathon and Creepy Craft Afternoon before the half term. It was great to see so many families taking part together and we hope that you enjoyed this opportunity to be in school with your child/young person. There are a couple of opportunities for Parent Carers to come into school over the next half term, for a Coffee Morning and for our Christmas Market and Winter Wondershow. These dates are included later in the update, as well as other key dates for the half term ahead. Last half term, we shared the first of the “10 Principles of Learning” that we hold at St Martins. The 2nd principle is ‘Personalised – one size fits one’, this principle means that we recognise that we are all different and learn and respond in unique ways. Our staff team are constantly creative in planning lessons and activities in order to meet the needs of all of our students. Mini Monster Marathon Thank you to all who supported our event before the half term. The students have raised a great amount of money so far through sponsorship. Please can any outstanding sponsorship money be brought into school as soon as possible. Following this, the Student Council will meet to look at how to spend the money. SEND Law Clinic University of Derby law students host a regular free SEND Law Clinic to provide advice in SEND matters for residents of Derby and Derbyshire. Please see the flyer further in the update for more information.
