Dear Parent Carers, Weekly Update: 07/11/25 I hope this update finds you well and rested after the half term break. It’s been a delight to welcome our school community back, and we look forward to a productive and fun half term ahead! Project SEARCH News The team at our Supported Internship at the Royal Derby Hospital have put together a great newsletter for this week’s update – sharing the journeys of the interns (students) so far. We hope you enjoy reading about what they’ve been up to! Following our sharing of updates from each of the departments in school, please let us know if there are any other areas that you’d like to learn more about! iPads for Students Over the last year, we have been working hard behind the scenes to launch student iPads. Each student will have their own iPad to use in school to support taking part in lessons through interactive work and completing teaching activities through a platform called Showbie. We are excited to see the positive benefits of this investment in iPads and Showbie. iPads will be ‘rolled out’ gradually, with a few classes taking part at first – KS3JG, KS3KW, KS4PP and KS5RK. To support the positive use of iPads, an agreement for their use in school will be sent home for Parent Carers to complete together with their young person. This agreement is in place to explain how the iPad should be used and looked after and also cover what could happen should damage occur. Agreements will initially be sent to the first classes taking part. Welcome This week we have been joined by a new Classroom Assistant, Maisie Davidson. We are excited for Maisie to join us and hope that you will all welcome her to St Martins! Upcoming Dates Dates for this half term are shared later in the update, including our Christmas Market on Tuesday 16th December, which will take place after school.
