Weekly Update - 6th December 2024

Page 1

6th December 2024 Dear Parent Carers, Weekly Update: 06/12/24 We hope this update finds you well. Students are doing well in the lead up to Christmas, and we are putting one of our ’10 Principles of Learning’ front and centre – ‘No. 3 – Planned – considered and shared with staff’. This principle is useful at busy times when students – and adults, can feel overwhelmed with how much Christmas takes over our lives! Having a considered plan in place so that we know what is happening and when, and having the opportunity to change or adapt plans helps us to enjoy special times with our friends and family in a self-assured, calm and managed way. Please find a copy of our ’10 Principles of Learning’ later in the update, which was developed using insights from student voice. These help our staff team to stay focussed on what makes the difference to our young people. Christmas Market and Winter Wondershow Don’t forget to get your tickets for the Christmas Market – Tuesday 17th December and Winter Wondershow – Thursday 19th December. Both afternoons promise to be great. If you would like to book tickets, please return the slip that was sent home last week, otherwise, please contact your child/young person’s pastoral team. After School Clubs Clubs are finishing for Christmas on Thursday 12th December, and will resume on Monday 13th January. A letter will be sent to Parent Carers who have returned the clubs reply slip confirming which club has been allocated the week commencing Monday 6th January. Pupil Progress Reports Parent Carers will receive an Autumn Term Progress Report during the last week of the term. This report looks at ‘Attitudes and Learning’ and ‘Attainment’ for each of the areas that your child/young person is studying in school. We hope that you will find this useful as an update of your child’s progress. This new in-year snapshot of progress reporting has been developed following Parent Carer feedback from previous surveys. Please let us know what you think.
