3rd March 2023 Dear Parent Carers, Weekly Update: 03/03/2023 It has been great to welcome the students and staff back into school this week, raring to go for this half term. This year’s residentials have started to take place this week – KS3EH and KS3KT went to Mount Cook and took part in different activities including going on the zip line, playing archery tag and having a bonfire. We are really pleased that students are able to have these experiences away from home – thank you to our staff team who facilitate these exciting visits. Thank you for your support on Wednesday with the industrial action that took place in school. We apologise for the disruption this may have caused you and your family, but hope that this has further raised awareness of the ongoing issues with government currently faced by schools across the country. I would like to extend a warm welcome to 5 Teaching Assistants who have joined our St Martins family – Amy Sanders, Charlotte Blakeway, Daya Khosse, Elaine Gale and Verity Rex-Byrd. It’s great to have you here! Well done You may remember back in November that one of our incredible sixth formers, Billy Ellerington was given an award by the Youth Sport Trust. Things have got even better for Billy as he has now won the national children’s charity’s Beckwith CARE Young Changemaker Award by the Youth Sport Trust. The awards recognise and reward best practice and achievements through PE, play and sport by schools, colleges, and young people. Billy was presented with this award by Lioness, Jill Scott at the YST conference on Wednesday. Billy – we continue to be so impressed with you and look forward to seeing your future endeavours.
