A very warm welcome to St. John Vianney Catholic Primary

School

Children join our school from our own early years, from other nursery settings and directly from home. We offer opportunities for learners out-of-school-hours and beyond school terms as extended provision: We are open from 7:45 am - 5:45pm for 50 weeks of the year.

We recognise God’s presence in the children of St. John Vianney Catholic Primary School & Children’s Centre, the staff that help them learn, their families and the communities in which they live. Thus, as a community we live out our mission . . . “Come As You Are and Grow With Us”. Believing that parents are the first teachers of their child, we join together on a shared journey through life, in faith, with learning, so that they may be the ‘best of teachers’.

At St. John Vianney we aim . . .

• To encourage all to care for their health, enabling our community to enjoy a healthy future.

• To enrich the steps of all who enter; the words of all who teach; the thoughts of all who learn; the hearts of all who care.

• To hold the families of our community in a spirit of faith, hope and love offering opportunities for all to achieve their full potential serving one another.

• To make a positive contribution socially, emotionally, morally and spiritually to the well-being of all.

• To recognise the unique gifts and talents of each person so that the learning and family support that is begun here prospers in the heart of our community.

All are welcome in our wonderful school. Please contact the school office or look on our website so that we can arrange for you to come and look around.

Our curriculum

At St. John Vianney, our curriculum is both ambitious and broad, designed to challenge and inspire our pupils. We are committed to ensuring that every child learns more and remembers more, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to excel.

Our curriculum not only covers essential academic subjects but also emphasises the importance of understanding their local area and heritage. We want our students to be deeply rooted in their community, knowing where they come from and appreciating the rich history and culture of their surroundings.

Moreover, we extend their learning to global affairs, creating an awareness of international issues and diverse cultures. Our aim is to cultivate well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also socially responsible and culturally aware.

By promoting a broad outlook on the world, we prepare our pupils to be good citizens who contribute positively to society and navigate an increasingly interconnected world with confidence and empathy.

“Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the school.”
“The school greatly values its role in serving its families and local community.”

Special educational needs and disabilities

As an inclusive school, all teachers are teachers of pupils with special educational needs & disabilities (SEND). We deliver a curriculum and create an environment that meets the needs of every pupil within our school. We ensure that every pupil with SEND makes the best progress possible. We foster and promote effective working partnerships with parents, carers, pupils, and outside agencies. We consider the ‘whole’ child and strive to ensure that all our SEND pupils are prepared for adulthood.
