We are a hardworking, vibrant, and happy school with the gospel values at our centre. St. Cuthbert’s will offer your child high quality teaching, a love of learning, and support personalised to their individual needs. Our children say that they feel well looked after and most of all enjoy coming to our school.
St. Cuthbert’s is a leading associate school for the Royal Shakespeare Company inspiring training and drama across Hartlepool. We use a ‘rehearsal room approach’ in literacy which engages our children and enhances writing throughout KS2 to a high standard.
We had a very positive outcome in both our recent inspections and were proud that the Catholic Schools inspectorate recognised the love and care which permeates our classrooms. We pride ourselves on offering excellent pastoral care enhanced through our PSA, who is available daily to provide practical help and support to those who need it.
Visits to the school are very welcome and would give you a chance to see the building in full, especially our wonderful roof garden! St. Cuthbert’s would be the perfect choice for your family, and we can’t wait to meet you.
All are welcome in our wonderful school. Please contact the school office or look on our website so that we can arrange for you to come and look around.

St. Cuthbert’s curriculum design has four key themes which were agreed by staff and Governors to address the needs of our pupils:
Oracy – Speech and language development is a barrier for many of our children. We believe that to achieve children need to be confident to speak, express their views, perform and have exposure to a rich and varied vocabulary. This theme runs across our curriculum.
Hartlepool – We believe children need to know about their town and where they live. The history, what it has to offer and why they should look after it. Our aim is to create children who love and know their town and will contribute to its success and development in the future.
Health and Wellbeing – We believe our children need to have the skills to make good choices in terms of their health and wellbeing and know where help is and what they can do to ensure they are safe in and out of school.
Resilience - We believe that life can bring about unexpected changes, problems and challenges. Our children need to develop skills to recognise when they need help, where they can seek help and have the resilience to bounce back. This thread is evident across our curriculum.
“Pupils know that the school is aspirational for their futures.”
“Pupils know they are loved and cared for in this highly inclusive school.”
As an inclusive school, all teachers are teachers of pupils with special educational needs & disabilities (SEND). We deliver a curriculum and create an environment that meets the needs of every pupil within our school.
We ensure that every pupil with SEND makes the best progress possible. We foster and promote effective working partnerships with parents, carers, pupils, and outside agencies. We consider the ‘whole’ child and strive to ensure that all our SEND pupils are prepared for adulthood.

Starting primary school is a very important time for you and your child and at St. Cuthbert’s, we aim to make this a happy experience for everyone. Children can start school in our Reception class in the September of the academic year in which they will be five years old.
To gain a place at St. Cuthbert’s, you will need to apply through Hartlepool Borough Council’s website. Please click the link for more information or scan the QR code. Alternatively, you can contact the school office. https://stcuthbertshartlepool.bhcet.org.uk/information/ admissions-policy
If your child is not already attending our school Nursery, they will be invited to spend some informal sessions with their new teacher and other children from the class in the summer term in order to familiarise themselves with the school environment. An information evening for our new Reception class parents is also held in the summer term.
For mid-year admissions, at other times of the year or for year groups other than Reception, please go through Hartlepool Borough Council ( https://www.hartlepool.gov.uk/info/20014/schools_and_learning/655/ in_year_school_admissions). We highly recommend contacting the school in the first instance for a visit.
At St. Cuthbert’s, we offer a wonderful nursery setting for two and three year olds. We have places available for two year olds (15 hours per week) and additional hours can be paid for if required. Please visit our website for more information.
