Statement of Curriculum Intent Subject – Music
At Shenstone Lodge School, our performing arts curriculum intends to inspire artistic exploration, self-expression and offer our students a creative escape. The intention is that children gain a firm understanding of what performing is through listening, singing, playing, evaluating, analysing, and performing across a wide variety of historical periods, styles, traditions, and genres. For our children, we believe music and drama. For our children, we believe music and drama are powerful and unique forms of communication which can change and impact the way students feel, think and act. These art forms are universal languages of expression that allow our students to connect on a level beyond words. We hope to give students at Shenstone Lodge the opportunity to express themselves through song and performance while exploring the sensory effect of music and movement on their bodies.
