CURRICULUM OVERVIEW CLASS: Griffin

CLASS TEACHER: Mr Maull

In English we will be:       

Studying a class novel: Goodnight Mr Tom. Learning the difference between different narrative voices. Developing our knowledge of language devices. Exploring Short Stories. Learning about structure and writing effective openings. Using language to achieve an effect. Practising correct grammar and punctuation.

Maths In Maths, we will be learning to:       

Understand and use multiplication and division. Know what prime, square and cubes numbers are. Continue to develop our knowledge of fractions. Understand how to convert, add and subtract fractions. Use decimals and percentages. Look at perimeter and area. Continue to strengthen our understanding of statistics.

Science This term Griffin class will be looking at Energy. We will:  Look at how humans get their energy.  Understand how much energy is in different types of food.  Develop our knowledge of energy sources in the world.  Look at renewable energy sources.

History/Geography This term we will be learning about:      

Medieval Monarchs Understand how the monarchy in Britain started and how the crown was passed down. Look at key historical events such as The Battle of Stamford Bridge and The Battle of Hastings. Exploring England, looking at the climate and atmosphere. Looking at the makeup of Britain and how each country fits together. Developing our knowledge of the population density of Britain.

ICT This term Griffin class will be learning about: 
