CURRICULUM OVERVIEW -
CLASS: Phoenix CLASS TEACHERS: Elizabeth Bailey/ Nadine Mannion LSPS: Dominique Tuitt English In English, we will be learning about: Leaflets. This will include how they are set out and who they are aimed at. We will explore the persuasive and emotive language used in leaflets. Play scripts. This will include how they are set out and what they are used for. We will use a familiar story to base our own play scripts on. In addition, we will learn about: Sentence structure and how to use punctuation correctly including apostrophes, commas, brackets and colons. How to improve sentences by adding in details using adjectives to make expanded noun phrases Writing in the correct tense – past or present. We will also focus on improving our spelling and handwriting.
Maths In Maths, we will be learning about: Factor pairs and understand the term product. Multiply and divide by 10 Multiply and divide by 100 Use Related facts of multiplication and division Use Informal written methods for multiplication Understand the denominators of unit fractions Compare and order unit fractions Understand the numerators of non-unit fractions Understand the whole Compare and order non-unit fractions Fractions and scales Fractions on a number line Count in fractions on a number line
Science This term we will be investigating: Earth and Space Throughout this topic we will be referencing the work of Engineer Mae Jemison and the impact she had on the field she worked in. We will be conducting some investigations to determine how planets earth rotates around our sun and this will link to our art topic too. By the end of this unit pupils would have been taught the following; Understanding that the earth is spherical Naming all the planets in the solar system Being able to describe how the planets move within in our Solar System Explaining that day and night occur due to the rotation of the Earth Understanding the phases of the moon
