SHENSTONE LODGE SCHOOL CURRICULUM OVERVIEW SPRING TERM CLASS: Minotaur & Centaur CLASS TEACHER: Rob Lewis & Hollie Keyse LSPS: Chris Albutt & James Mccoy English In English, we will be learning about:  Studying a class novel and comparing it to film- Harry Potter  We will be looking at and exploring the genre of scripts and play writing.  Identifying narrative voices  Word types- focusing on verb tenses  Different variations of recorded speech  Stage directions and other features of scripts  Punctuation including brackets, colons, semi-colons  Creating our own script  Story mapping scenes we have watched and read.  Learning about structure and writing effective scenes.  Using language to achieve an effect.  Practising correct grammar and punctuation.  Summarising events from a script.

Maths In Maths, we will be learning about:  Measurement- particularly length, perimeter and height  Multiplication and Division- Times tables  Written methods for multiplying and dividing  Reasoning and Problem solving with multiplication and division  Continue to develop our knowledge of fractions.  Understand how to convert, add and subtract fractions.  Develop our understanding of terminology- groups, share, multiple, fraction, decimal, place value, hundred, tens, ones

Science This term we will be investigating Living things and their habitats:  Giving reasons for classifying plants and animals based on specific characteristics.  Describing how living things are classified into broad groups according to common observable characteristics and based on similarities and differences, including microorganisms, plants and animals  Recognising that living things have changed over time and that fossils provide information about living things that inhabited the Earth millions of years ago  Identifying how animals and plants are adapted to suit their environment in different ways and that adaptation may lead to evolution  Recognising that living things produce offspring of the same kind, but normally offspring vary and are not identical to their parents

Geography/History This term we will be learning about Castles:  Identifying features of castles
