Writing Vision Statement
Read to write is our carefully chosen system which is taught in four parts.
This writing system has been carefully chosen to ensure we give all children the opportunity to become writers….
Immerse – Engage children with the vehicle text. Enjoy, explore and make connections.
Analyse – Familiarise the children with the chosen language features
It is a sequential system that builds on learning from term to term and year to year. The carefully chosen books ‘hook’ the children into a sequence of learning leading to written pieces of work.
Plan – Gather ideas and plan. Write – Teacher to model and guide writing followed by an independent write from the children where they will adapt, revise and edit.
Creating Writers! Note that on the programmes of study skills have not been divided into themes but into geographical skills outlined in the National Curriculum. This is because many skills be be covered and revisited throughout the year, giving children many opportunities to explore and understand these. The Vehicle Text The Vehicle text is the book used to direct knowledge and genre into skills and therefore writing genre. The teachers use the vehicle text to expose the children to similar genres and authors….
