15 July 2022 Dear Parents/Carers, As the weather is expected to reach unusually high temperatures on Monday and Tuesday next week we will be making the following adjustments to our uniform expectations for these days only. Pupils may continue to wear their full school uniform should they wish and they will have two other options: 1) They will not be required to wear a blazer or tie and can wear their shirts with top buttons open. Shirts must be tucked in and the rest of the uniform policy will remain the same. 2) They may come in their full St Michael’s PE kit (including shorts) and trainers. No other ‘casual’ kit is permitted. Please do make sure they have a water bottle which should be refilled at break and lunchtimes. Please also ensure they apply sun cream if they are going to be in the sun at break and lunchtime. Pupils may also wish to bring a hat to wear at break/lunch time. On a slightly separate note, all pupils have been spoken to about the obvious dangers of swimming in open water. This information is shared regularly with all our pupils around this time of year and is particularly pertinent given the tragic incident where a young boy lost his life in a quarry close to Wigan last weekend. Further information about the dangers can be found on the following links: Canal and River Trust United Utilities RNLI Yours sincerely Mr J Chadwick Deputy Head
