Dear Parents / Carers As the Lent term draws to a close and we prepare for Easter it is good to reflect on events that have taken place this term and look forward to the Trinity term.

It has been wonderful to see so many clubs and wider curricular opportunities on offer again this half term. We have some way to go to get participation levels back to pre-covid times, but I do want to thank so many of our pupils for embracing the numerous opportunities available at St Michael’s in addition to rising to the challenges of their academic studies.

Year 11 We are now very close to the main GCSE written examination period. Year 11 are an amazing year group and deserve to do very well. We are doing all we can to work with you in supporting your children through this pressured time. Please let Mrs McCaffrey know if you have any concerns about your child in the remaining few weeks. You have already received details of the comprehensive programme of revision and support that is available to your son or daughter. We look forward to welcoming parents and carers of Year 11 to school on Thursday 23 June at 11.15 for our special leavers’ service. Uniform Thank you to all parents and carers who support school in our drive for the highest standards of uniform amongst all our pupils. The length of some girls’ skirts is becoming a concern again and I remind parents and carers that the length must be within three inches of the knee. We are also grateful for your support in relation to coats, hair style and make up/ fake tan. Our full uniform list is available at the front of your child’s organiser. If you are in any doubt about any item of uniform please contact your child’s tutor, Pupil Manager or Mr Chadwick. Student Leadership Thank you to Year 10 pupils who have been motivated to apply and subsequently interviewed, to represent the school in the role of prefect next year. We are currently in the midst of our rigorous selection process for the most senior student leadership roles in school, with interviews taking place after the Easter break. It is a great privilege to be able to read so many wonderful letters of application expressing what St Michael’s means to so many of our young people. Year 7 pupils have also applied for the role of ‘Bridge Buddy’ to help aid the transition process between primary and secondary school for the Year 6 pupils who will be joining us in September. Charitable Giving Thank you to all pupils and parents/carers for your support for our Lent Appeal. The funds raised this term will be supporting Comic Relief, Ukraine and our Year group Charities (Year 7- LEPRA, Year 8-Yohaly, Sponsor a Child, Year 9 – Young Minds, Year 10 – Cry School, Lusaka, Year 11 – Help the Homeless). Wider Curricular Opportunities I am sure that you will enjoy the half term summary attached to our newsletter which provides a snapshot of the wonderful array of enrichment opportunities that
