FEEDBACK AND FOCUS by Mr Downes, Head of College
Thank you to those families who made appointments to speak with Year 7 and 8 teachers at the end of January - we hope the conversations proved useful. We would also like to thank you for completing the parent view survey. I really value your feedback and this survey helps us to identify further areas to support us in our next steps. In particular, families were less likely to agree that they received information about what their child was studying here. We are working very hard to update our website with up-to-date curriculum information: please have a look at our curriculum pages at www.ryecollege.co.uk/curriculum/overview. This last term, we took part in a quality assurance review with colleagues from the Trust and a partner Trust. We are delighted that our report identified our successes and agreed with the areas that we are currently focusing on for further school improvement. We are not complacent and our school improvement plan identifies areas for us to continue to improve. However, I would like to pull one quotation from the report, “The team enjoyed their interactions with the students, who spoke of a safe and happy college…telling us that their college is better than others and that ‘you can be yourself here.’”
I want to recognise the hard work and commitment put in by all students in Year 11 leading up to their PPEs beginning next term. This is an incredibly important opportunity for the students to prepare for their fast-approaching final examinations. We have been impressed with the way students have worked recently and they must continue to work hard in-order to secure the best possible outcomes for their futures. We look forward to giving students feedback and supporting them over the coming months. Finally, we look forward to beginning the Choices process, where Year 9 students will choose their GCSE options for KS4, early next term - we will be holding a mixture of virtual and live events over the coming months. More details to follow. Have a great half term holiday!
