Unique Individuals Learning Together Mrs. Quigley’s weekly message: Welcome back to the new school year. It seems just a moment ago we were enjoying ice creams on the last day and waving our previous Year 6 children off into their next journey. I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable summer. It was lovely to see all of our children on Wednesday; they looked incredibly smart in their new uniforms and it was wonderful to once again have the school filled with happy and smiling children. A very warm welcome to the new members of our school community, whether in our new Reception class or joining other classes. We are so pleased to have you with us and I know that everyone will make you feel very welcome. We would also like you to join us in welcoming our new members of staff to school: Miss Pick in Year 1, Miss Haine in Year 3 and Mr Taylor, who will be working across school providing sports provision and classroom support. Welcome Chingo is fast approaching and our PFA are working hard to organise this. If you shop at Asda, please sign up to the new Cashpot for Schools to support our school - more details can be found on the PFA’s page (number 5). You may have noticed we have had some external work completed this summer. We have had the KS2 paths replaced and tarmacked, photographs added to the front external windows and new sail shades installed on the field. Mr Finch has also been working very hard in our forest school area, along with Miss Taylor and Mrs Preston who will be starting forest school shortly. Children across school, throughout the year will have the chance to access this during the school day, and we will also be offering clubs for this later in the year. I’m sure you will agree that the school looks lovely after all of this work. Every morning, wherever possible, I will be on one of the entry gates each day, so do come and have a chat if you have a query that the class teacher or the office can’t help with, or to just generally keep in touch. Whenever I can, I will also be out at the end of the day. This half term, we will be focusing on our mission statement as part of our values work whilst we refine our values programme. Thank you to the families who managed to share feedback and help us in this process. Finally, please can I draw your attention to our uniform policy and expectations on the next page. We do not require any school logo branded items unless you wish but do ask children to wear the correct uniform. In the next few weeks we will be holding a swap shop where you are welcome to come and take some new uniform if you’re still waiting to buy new items. We have lots of sizes and lots of nearly new items. Can I also ask for your support with water bottles—some children have very large bottles and they take up a lot of learning space, as well as making a lot of noise when they fall. Children are able to refill throughout the day so they do not need to have a water bottle larger than standard size. Have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll look forward to seeing you all on Monday. Mrs Quigley
