Covid Testing and Reporting If your child is displaying symptoms of Coronavirus, the guidance is that you take them for a PCR test (an LFT is not sensitive enough to pick up the early stages and may show as negative, whereas the PCR will pick up the virus in the early stages). Please email the school office if your child does test positive as we have to track the number of children in each class to decide if we need to introduce further measures. Here is a reminder of the letter sent out this week: Please do not send any child into school if they are displaying any of the COVID symptoms, however mild (i.e. a new, continuous cough, high temperature and/or loss of taste or smell). They should stay home and arrange to have a PCR test (NOT an LFT). Please could we ask that all children over 5 take a lateral flow test (LFT) daily until further notice, even if they are well. We understand this test can be uncomfortable for young children and would suggest parents look for the nasal only lateral flow tests which can currently be ordered online at Order coronavirus (COVID-19) rapid lateral flow tests - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) or picked up at the council testing site https://www.warrington.gov.uk/symptom-free-testing. These tests are aimed at identifying those cases who do not have symptoms and who may therefore be spreading the virus unknowingly. If the LFT test is negative, and your child is not displaying any COVID-19 symptoms (new continuous cough, high temperature, loss of taste or smell) they can continue to attend school. However, if the LFT test is positive, your child should stay home and we will confirm on Seesaw the testing required before your child returns to school. If anybody in your household tests positive for COVID, please ensure that everybody else in the household takes a PCR test as soon as possible and isolates until you receive the results. Everybody in the household should take a lateral flow test daily, until the 10-day isolation period for the positive case has expired. If any of the daily tests are positive, the individual should selfisolate as per the current guidance - we will confirm testing requirements for returning to school. Please can we ask that you continue to wear a face covering (where possible) when dropping off and collecting your child from school to help to reduce the spread of the virus within our school community.
