Unique Individuals Learning Together Mrs. Quigley’s weekly message:

Friday 5

 Forest School Event for Y2, Y4

Happy Friday!

How is it December already? The term is flying by, and this week has certainly been a memorable one. As you know, we were visited by OFSTED. While I can’t share the outcomes just yet, I’d love to share some wonderful highlights.

During my time in classrooms and around the school with the inspectors, I was so proud to see excellent behaviour for learning. The children were focused, engaged and working hard. Some groups even spoke to the inspectors and were incredibly articulate about what they love about our school.

I know many of you completed the questionnaire and some spoke to inspectors on the playground - thank you for taking the time to do that.

This inspection was under a new framework, so the report will not include an overall judgement, but rather gradings across different areas. The report will be published at the earliest in January, and as soon as it’s available, I will share it with you - I’m sure there will be lots to celebrate!

Looking ahead to next week:

• Forest School Days will take place next week for the whole school! Mrs Preston and Miss Taylor have been working hard on the plans. Please check the schedule for your child’s class above. On their day, children should wear PE kits, bring a change of shoes and a warm coat.

• PFA Movie Night: The PFA have been busy organising a festive movie night, and they’ve shared details with you. It promises to be a lovely evening - I hope to see many of the children there!

Have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you at the gate on Monday. Mrs Quigley

The Picture News topic for next week is …

‘How important is it to feel a sense of togetherness?’

On Friday, the Princess of Wales will host her annual carol service, which will bring people together to celebrate kindness, connection and community. The event aims to show how love can link people of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs, especially at times when the world can feel divided. It encourages everyone to think about the power of togetherness and the importance of supporting one another with compassion and joy.

Togetherness doesn’t mean we all have to be the same. It means noticing others, caring, listening and showing kindness. When we do that, we can create a sense of belonging, both for ourselves and for the people around us.

Things to talk about at home:

* Talk to someone at home - are they interested in this concert? Do you believe it will achieve its aim in bringing people together?

* Are there any services, concerts or events that you will be attending during the festive period?

* Talk about what ‘togetherness’ means to you and your people at home.

Tickets for Christmas Performance

The tickets for the KS1 Christmas performance were sent out yesterday in the children’s bookbags. If you wish to swap tickets amongst friends, for example a morning for an afternoon, or likewise a spare ticket donated to a friend who would like an extra, that’s fine, but you must bring your ticket on the day or you won’t be able to come in until we know there is a vacant seat (you will be asked to wait at the gate until everyone has been admitted). We hope you understand that this comes from the need to ensure the safety of the children, staff and visiting audiences, whilst we also try to ensure that all families have the chance to watch a performance of their child.

We are sharing a link with the Weekly Update on Seesaw for a short form to complete for KS1 parents to request additional tickets.

We hope to send out the KS2 Christmas performance tickets next week and we will let you know on Seesaw when this happens. It is unlikely that there will be spare tickets available for the KS2 performance.

Performing Arts Parents Performance

As it is the final Performing Arts club for this half term, there will be a performance for parents towards the end of the session. Entry will be through the main office entrance at 4.00 pm.

Clubs - Spring 1 - please read carefully

Details of the after school clubs on offer for after Christmas can be found below. With the exception of the Kids with Bricks club, which is booked through an outside provider, the clubs will be available to book via Parentpay. The Choir registration covers the full term up until Easter.

From January, we are pleased to let you know that clubs will be available for Reception children to join.

The clubs will be published from Monday (please bear with us as we fit this into the working day) and registration will close on Sunday 14 December. Please bear in mind that the clubs are popular with limited availability and are often booked up within a couple of days.

Please only sign up if you can attend each week as there will be no refunds if your child is unable to attend a session and please take care when booking as we are unable to refund mistakes. School pays a fee for every transaction (both payment to us and for refunds)

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDING REQUEST:

If a child can’t stay for a club, please remember to let the OFFICE know in advance (not the class staff) so that the registers can be updated and your child will be able to leave as usual rather than going to the club. The office has to follow up any child not attending a club (where they haven’t been notified in advance) to ensure they are safe and it could delay them identifying a serious safeguarding issue if they have a lot of children to follow up.

Finally, please make a note of the clubs you book and of the details below as a reminder (perhaps take a photograph so you have it available on your phone) - you can always look on the Weekly Updates on Seesaw or our website if you do lose it. All clubs run from 3.15 - 4.15 pm and don’t forget to let the person picking up know which gate they need to collect from.

Join Us for a Festive Christmas Movie Night!

We’re so excited to invite the children of Park Road to our cosy Christmas Movie Night on Thursday 4 December, a wonderful event made possible thanks to the amazing support of our parent volunteers. A huge thank you to everyone who’s helped us bring these sessions to life!

Children will enjoy sweets and a hot chocolate or Grinch Juice. The £5 purchase via ParentPay includes the cost of the refreshments. Every penny raised goes straight back into supporting our PFA fundraising, helping us invest in the school and enrich our children’s education.

Reception Class:

The film will start at 3.15 pm, children will be taken straight through to the event at the end of school and children can be picked up at 4.15 pm (from the rear doors of the hall).

Years 1, 2, 3:

The film will start at 4.30 pm and children can be picked up at 6.00 pm (from the rear doors of the hall).

Years 4, 5, 6:

The film will start at 6.30 pm and children must be picked up by an adult at 8.00 pm (from the rear doors of the hall). As it is a late, dark evening, please help us by collecting your child from school, we will not be able to let them walk home alone.

Mersey West Lancs NHS Trust have sent a request to see if we can help to bring a smile to patient’s faces over the Christmas period. They have said that every year the feedback they receive from patients regarding the pictures they receive is fantastic and it really does make a difference to the patients during this period, lifting their spirits.

If you would like to support the appeal, the details are on the post above or you can bring the pictures and cards to the school office by Monday 15 December and we will make sure that they receive them.
