As we reach the end of our first half term, I want to take a moment to celebrate the fantastic start we’ve had together. The children have settled beautifully into their routines, working hard, enjoying their learning and showing real teamwork as part of our school community. It’s been a joy to see their enthusiasm and kindness shine through each day.
A huge thank you to Mrs Wilkinson, Mrs Robinson, and some members of our brilliant Happiness Heroes team for running our Community Café. It was wonderful to see so many of you there, enjoying the atmosphere and supporting our school. Your presence made it a truly special event. We were overwhelmed by your generosity during our harvest collection. Lindsey from the WA5 Good Neighbours team was deeply moved by the kindness of our school community. Thank you for helping us make a real difference.
To all families who have been celebrating Diwali, we wish you a joyful and peaceful festival. Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is a time for reflection, celebration and togetherness. It marks the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, and is celebrated with beautiful lights, delicious food, and family gatherings. Some of our classes have celebrated this festival this week as part of their learning and enjoyed learning more about this. To our families who have been celebrating, we hope your celebrations are filled with happiness and love.
Next half term, we look forward to welcoming you to Parents’ Evening. Please ensure you’ve booked your appointment via the email sent out. It’s a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s learning and development since the start of term.
Our upcoming Open Day in November is nearly full! If you know anyone looking for a school place for September 2026, please do share our information via our social media channels. We’d love to welcome new families to our community.
A final reminder that our PFA AGM will take place on Tuesday 4 November at 2:30 pm. This important meeting will celebrate the achievements of the past year and elect key members for the year ahead. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Finally, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing everyone after the break. Please remember: gates open at 8:35 am and close promptly at 8:45 am.

The Picture News topic for next week is …
‘What makes someone worthy of a Nobel Prize?’

This year’s Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Maria Corina Machado from Venezuela. The Nobel Prizes are special international awards, given each year to people who have made outstanding contributions to science, literature and peace. Machado has worked peacefully to make her country fairer and to protect people’s rights. The award recognises her bravery in speaking out for fairness and freedom, and highlights the importance of non-violent action in creating change.
Alfred Nobel was an inventor, entrepreneur, scientist and businessman who also wrote poetry and drama. His varied interests are reflected in the prize he established and which he lay the foundation for in 1895 when he wrote his last will, leaving much of his wealth to the establishment of the prize.
to talk about at home:
* Ask somebody older than you at home about their knowledge of Nobel Prizes. Can they recall any winners from the past?
* Should children be able to win prizes like the Nobel Prize if they make a big difference? Discuss your response with someone at home.
* If you could invent a new Nobel Prize, what would it be for?
Well done to the following children chosen this week for demonstrating good manners and our school values at lunchtime:
Reception Darcey N
Year 1 Jacob CG
Year 2 Maggie C
Year 3 Charlotte G
Year 4 James B
Year 5 Isla H
Year 6 Zoe L
Across the year, we will be holding performances where children can showcase their learning in music lessons. There will be 1 performance per term and each one will include 2 classes. Parents/carers for those classes are invited to come and watch the performances (all performances will be on a Tuesday).
The first performance is on Tuesday 11 November for Years 3 and 4. The timings will be as follows:
2.35 pm KS2 gate opens for parents/carers
2.40 pm promptly KS2 gate locked and performance starts
3.15 pm performance ends
Years 1 and 5 will be in the spring term (date tbc)
Reception, Years 2 and 6 will be in the summer term (date tbc)
We will send out the dates as soon as they are confirmed for the Spring and Summer terms.
Please could we ask for your help on a couple of matters. When you report a child sick or unwell, please could you let us know why they are sick as it allows us to identify patterns/trends and, if necessary, put extra measures in place such as additional cleaning.
When you let us know that your child has an appointment in school time, please could you send a copy of the appointment letter for our records - this could be a photograph on Seesaw or email, or you can pop into the office and we can take a copy of it.
Thank you for your help with this.

Year 2 had an extra Diwali celebration, when Laasya’s family sent in a gift bag for every child in the class. Thank you to Laasya and her family for such a thoughtful gift. A number of families in the class shared that they had been lighting candles this week too.

We wanted to share some photographs of the event and our wonderful Happiness Heroes helpers. Thank you to everyone who came along to our Community Café this week and made it so successful. We hope you enjoyed catching up with other members of our community as well as the drinks and cakes!

This week our Innov8 team delivered a whole school assembly linked to Harvest Around the World. They each shared what harvest looks like in a chosen country and children in the audience contributed with their ideas too. They worked so hard to create and share this informative assembly and did such a wonderful job.

As you can see, here at Park Road we have collected a huge selection of food and toys to donate to the WA5 Good Neighbours charity. We have worked alongside this charity for many years and the donations this year have really blown them away. Our Head Boy and Girl worked alongside staff here to pack it all up and get it sent to the local hub ready for distribution.
Thank you so much to everyone in our school community for your kindness and generosity.

Neel in Year 6’s dad has asked us to share that “Neel has successfully passed the 11 Plus exams for both The Blue Coat Grammar School in Liverpool and the Trafford Grammar Schools Consortium. Due to preference considerations, he will be joining The Blue Coat School next year.
Neel has worked incredibly hard over the past year to achieve his goal of securing a place at a selective grammar school. We are very proud of his effort and determination.”
Well done Neel, what a great example of perseverance and what it can achieve!

Extended Until Friday 7 November
