Value/attribute of the half term: Curiosity Mrs. Quigley’s weekly message: This week certainly started differently, didn’t it! As we start the weekly round up, I wanted to begin by saying again how proud I was of the children on Monday. They handled the situation of an evacuation at lunchtime and in the rain, so sensibly and calmly. I also wanted to again express thanks to all the staff, as I know many of you have, for managing the situation so well. Repair works are well under way in the nurture room, but I do expect the room to be out of use for a number of weeks whilst the work is completed. We will keep you updated with the progress. This week in classes teachers and children have been listening to some wonderful presentations where the children are putting themselves forward to represent the class on one of our school teams. Miss Mills and I have also been interviewing our Year 6 children as they apply for Team Leader roles across school. I have been so impressed with every interview or presentation I have seen—it struck me how creative, confident, and ambitious our children are! On Monday in assembly, the successful candidates will be announced, but every single person who put themselves forward should be so proud regardless of the outcome—YOU ARE AMAZING! Next week we officially begin our HPL (High Performance Learning) journey with a visit to school from Mark, who will be our associate. Mark will be in school on Wednesday, getting to know us, looking at our lessons, and speaking to children and staff. He will be with us for the full 2 years of the project so please do say hello and introduce yourself if you see him around the school at the end of the day. The philosophy behind HPL is that every child can achieve, flourish and succeed in life, regardless of their starting point. It aims to raise aspirations, provide challenge (in a supported and caring way), and embed the mindset ‘I can’t do that yet…..’ I feel confident that this sits perfectly with our belief and the work we already do and will only make our school even better. Have a wonderful weekend—and I hope to see many of you at Chingo next week!

Mrs Quigley
