CHARTERHOUSE TRIPS 2022 Following the departure of Mr Gough next week, please be assured that the organisation of this trip will be taken over by Ms Nightingale, Head of Year 8.
I have been a teacher for 28 years and have taught at five schools in the primary, middle and secondary phases. In my career I have had a number of roles including Rural Science Coordinator, Science Coordinator (3 schools), ICT Coordinator (2 schools) and Deputy Head (2 schools). Half of this time has been spent at a special place - formerly Oakfield Middle School, now Oakfield Academy. Since arriving in 2008 I have had the privilege, and pleasure, of teaching lots and lots of children - too many pupils to count! I have thoroughly enjoyed most of my time here and consider that I have had lots of successes (though I have had too many failures to count too!). However, the time is now right for a new challenge for me. It is therefore with a fair degree of sadness that I have decided to leave Oakfield at the end of this term. My last day will be Friday 8th April 2022. My new challenge? I am going to be selfemployed providing painting and handyman services. I also have plans to sell online learning resources and intend to write a book about my teaching career. I wish everyone - parents, staff, trustees and of course pupils, past and present - all the best for the future. For the pupils I have this one final message: Remember that the one thing you're in charge of is the effort you put in. If you do your best nothing more can be asked of you. Failure is the route to success, so don't be afraid of it, instead embrace it, learn from it and go again! All the best, Mr Gough
