Edition No 12, 21/22 December 2021 Sitting down to write a goodbye is hard, (especially for someone who talks as much as I do!), but sharing the message about how privileged I have felt to be part of the Oakfield community for the last 13 years means a lot to me and my family. I arrived a very brash and confident geography teacher who thought that he knew it all and could do it all. In some ways I suppose I still do think that, at least now I believe there is a touch of humility behind that! I look back now at the experiences that spikey haired, fresh-faced teacher went through and understand it has led me to where I am today; about to become a Headteacher. Even saying that sounds surreal, sounds like it’s happening to someone else, but what I do know is that everything I have learnt here at Oakfield, all of the mistakes and success are going to make me a better teacher, headteacher and person. All of the experiences I’ve been part of; Charterhouse, China, Bristol, Bath, buses breaking down on trips, roofs leaking, snow days, sports days, bags on roofs, shoes on roofs, power cuts and the panic when a wasp gets into a classroom! All of which we have gone through together. The people here at Oakfield are amazing; are proud, ambitious, positive and supportive, and I will miss them all, both past and present. That’s what is all about; learning how to succeed when it becomes challenging, knowing what it feels like to get it right and how you can then support others with their own trials and tribulations. Along the way we all get it wrong, but the recovery is important. We are all products of our experiences and as I move on to something different, unique, (we are moving to a village with only 1 pub and a shop!!!) and exciting, I know the Oakfield community will continue to support each other to be brilliant. Because you all are brilliant.
