History: This half term in history we will be studying Crime and Punishment. How punishment have changed over time and what have been the views of the various punishment. Over time, which main types of crime have been the most worrying?

Year 5 Spring 2/Half-term 4: ‘The Americas, materials and gourmet food’ English: This half term we will be looking at Science Fiction. We shall be reading Time Spinners by Roy Apps. We shall be comparing these with short science fiction clips from television. We shall be building our knowledge to write our own science fiction stories for a purpose audience.

Additionally, we shall be writing our own information booklets, linking to one of our Science topics, space. Geography: We will be studying the Americas, identifying locations in different regions in America. Whilst also researching how the impact of tourism as affected Florida.

Science: This term we will be focusing on the changes between states of matter. • Compare and group together everyday materials on the basis of their properties, including their hardness, solubility, transparency, conductivity (electrical and thermal), and response to magnets. • Demonstrate that dissolving, mixing and changes of state are reversible changes. Progressing onto the subject of ‘Animals including humans’
