English: We will start by debating the environmental impact of the rubbish we throw away and create persuasive letters to encourage others to be more environmentally aware. We will also be using the story “The musicians of Bremen” to investigate how folk tales are passed down and write our own tales with an environmental moral. Maths: This half term we will learn about… Time – - Interpreting timetables to answer word problems Shape – - Understanding angles - Classifying 2D and 3D shapes Number – Statistics - Interpreting graphs - Add, subtract and give change We will also have our Multiplication tests.
Science: During this half term we will continue to learn about food chains animal survival, predators and prey. We will focus on how and why environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things. We will also investigate how man made changes such as pollution and environmental changes can cause animal extinction.
Year 4 Summer 2/Half-term 6: ‘Tales of the environment’
History - We will learn about the Anglo Saxons and how and why they invaded Britain. We will investigate the push and pull factors that lead to them leaving their homeland and use a range of evidence to try and interpret what type of people they were. We will also look at the Reign of Alfred the Great and why he was important to Britain’s history.
